Yeah, I was under the impression that Hotwheelz was actually defending/supporting AirmenSmith. His post seemed to be aimed at those who were making - IMHO - unnecessarily derisive comments regarding AirmenSmith's suggestion. But maybe I missed something.
Anyway, I do think people should be more respectful when expressing their disinterest in others' feature requests. I'm not saying they should keep their thoughts to themselves, but there are ways of conveying your opinion in a way that doesn't mock the person suggesting it. The fact is, I have "less than zero interest" in many of the suggestions people post in this forum, but I don't feel the need to be negative toward their ideas. It's fine to say, "I'd personally prefer that more time be devoted to Feature X" or better yet, "I'm not sure that I would like that idea as you describe it, but perhaps we can discuss it and collectively come up with a way of implementing it that wouldn't divert time and resources away from the coding of other features and at the same time, would actually add something meaningful to the game." Novel concept: Constructive criticism.
I know there are those of you who think that your own personal OOTP irritant should be worthy of more attention than anyone else's, whether it be that legacy bug that "obviously should've been fixed years ago", or that obscure stat that isn't calculated, or that bench player from 1932 who always seems to hit 10 points higher than he did IRL in your historical replays, or those "stupid trades the AI makes", or that one seemingly simple little feature that Markus just refuses to add... But there's no excuse to be rude to others who don't happen to find your particular bugaboo as annoying as you do and are therefore more focused on other areas of OOTP that might make the game more enjoyable to them.
I'm not trying to be preachy here, because I know most of us are respectful to others in this forum. But as is the case with the rest of society, mean-spiritedness has a way of slowly creeping in and desensitizing us. Before we're even aware of it, we're all at each other's throats just because we don't agree on something. I just don't want to see a handful of negative comments set the tone for the rest of the forum.
I understand that people get frustrated, but that doesn't mean you can't be polite and civil to others.
