This is true but Im not seeing too many people complaining about having more games to watch or play. There is really no reason to cut the field in half if no one is complaining about it IMO. The higher seeds love the opportunity to show what they can do(for recruiting and general exposure) and they help weed out the lower seeds that didnt come to play.

By cutting the field who does it benefit?

The fans lose out, the smaller schools lose out, many bigger schools will lose out on income for what reason??? I dont see how anyone wins by cutting back on the tourny.

Basketball works perfect for a tourny like this as you can play every day if you needed to and it seems to be working just fine as generally the top teams to advance BUT it does weed out the underserving on occasion. You must really hate the way tennis does their majors Id guess as you could cut that field to 4 to find the players that could actually win especially now that Nadal has proven he can win anywhere.
