I play out every major league game in my league from the 7th inning on. It's very easy to do, just a matter of going into Commissioner Mode and then clicking on the View/Play Game button that shows up. You do have to specify what you want to control and what you don't (I generally let the computer control defensive and pitching choices whereas I control offensive choices and substitutions) before each and every game but that also gives you the opportunity to take a glance at every team. If you want to play out the minors as well (too much for me but go ahead) you just click on the drop down menu in the top right hand corner of the screen to switch between leagues.

As Eugene has stated, you will learn the players in your league far, far quicker if you do things this way. I suggest playing out until the 7th because most of the really big decisions are either made prior to the game or after the 6th anyway and this allows you to get through things about 3 times as fast as playing out every inning. This does mean you get less hands-on experience with the part of the game that has had by far the most work put into it (the development engine) and instead use an aspect that perhaps hasn't seen as much (the in-game engine) but it's still well worth playing, especially if you don't like seeing seasons go by at a breakneck pace.
