Trying to cater to the freaks and quirkmeisters as well is why the game supports the Samoan Handstand League of Eastern Chile and sound while the player developement model and the MLB model are both still broken.
There are only so many resources. Wasting them on weirdness has badly damaged the game.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.
