OOTP 9 is annoying me; thinking of going back to OOTP 5
Here are my main beefs with OOTP 9:
- Gameplay is incredibly slow. I mean, I click on something, and it takes 3 or 4 full seconds to change the screen. This is about 80 percent of my clicks of any kind.
- The personal message system is TOTALLY out of whack. A number of problems with this feature:
..... When a new message stops your simulation, the game doesn't bring you to the message. It brings you to the BOTTOM of a list of about 80 messages, and then you have to scroll all the way up and search through a whole bunch of meaningless news, just to find one shred of something for your team.
..... There is no filter to only display your personal messages! How could this be forgotten by developers?!?
..... I am left with two options: Either have my sim interrupted every time there's a message, and then hunt through the list of 80 messages for it; or don't get interrupted, and then have to constantly look through hundreds of messages that might involve my scout or a contract or whatever.
- This is the final complaint that put me over the edge, and now has me ready to revert back to OOTP 5 (for the third time):
In the playoffs, I had a four-man rotation with the Cubs. Dempster went in Game 1 because Zambrano was tired. But Demp is my #3 starter, so my #4, Rich Hill, was scheduled to start Game 2 against Jake Peavy. That is bad, so I went to my pitching lineup and set the Next Scheduled Starter to #1 (Zambrano). ...
Well, it pitched Hill anyway!
Which means I have no control over which starter starts!
And not even in the playoffs!
These issues have made OOTP 9 an unpleasant experience so far, I'm sorry to say.
Anyone else having these issues? Anything I can do to fix them?
I'm conflicted because the rest of the game is so great. But the constant waiting, constant message problems, and lack of pitching control makes it difficult to put the time in to play.
Peace out, y'all.
