Except you're not buying garbage bags. You're directly investing in someone's craft. If you choose to spend your $45 this year on a couple nights at the movies, you're essentially saying that you would rather there be a sequel to the Transformers film than a sequel to OOTP9. That there will probably be a sequel to the latter means most people disagree with your purchasing decisions.
I'm not saying you should or shouldn't buy every game every year or two copies if you can afford it or whatever. Markus and Andreas, I am sure, appreciate every cent they get from us, and we in turn will likely appreciate the goodness that will come out over the next couple years from the increased competition. I'm just saying that comparing OOTP to garbage bags is, well, stupid.
