Well, fight fans, we finally had our first 5 Boroughs matchup between #2 contender Roderick "The Playboy" Johnston and Frank "The Club" Seiler. It was a decent fight in all, at least once you get past the fact that Johnston did all that bobbing and weaving and throwing light little girl punches that we normally associate with the French. Will that be enough for him to defeat Jaffe? Well, we don't know. We've sort of forgotten how good or bad he is because the jerk hasn't put on gloves since March. Oh, he shows up every Friday to talk about the "game", but if he doesn't get himself into a matchup soon... well, let's just say that our Tammany Hall connections might come in handy here.

Merlin Vienns seems to have a predilection for shocking fight fans. The patron saint of the French style nonetheless delivered a powerful performance against the heretofore undefeated Oscar Thompson. We'll say it straight out - Thompson was lucky. Still, Thompson was delivered to the mat in under a minute against a guy who really, we swear, doesn't punch all that hard. Makes you wonder.

Notes: Allen Pulito broke his ankle following the fight and will be out for several months. Serves him right for headhunting in the first round. Also following his fight, Canadian Tanguy Ruel announced he is returning to his homeland for 6 months to support his family cutting logs. Since he "earned" a draw against future tomato can Spencer Summers in his only match, it's hard to say that he'll be particularly missed.

Congratulations, Mr. Barrett! You've been promoted to Tomato Can!
9/7/1866 Alexis Beaudoin 1-0-0 Thomas McConkey 1-2-0 Frank's Beginners C- C- MD
Beaudoin has the strongest right hand of any Canadian we've seen. Which is to say that it's mediocre.
9/7/1866 Norris Hetu 1-0-0 Anton Pelchat 0-1-0 Frank's Beginners B+ C UD
Even when French people fight each other they can't knock anybody out.
9/7/1866 Nicholas Gregory 2-0-0 David Sams 1-1-0 1 Frank's Beginners B+ B+ MD
Gregory kept this one closer than it should have been with repeated fouling.
9/21/1866 Spencer Summers 1-5-1 Tanguy Ruel 0-0-1 Frank's Beginners C C- Dr
Is there hope for Summers yet? No, there is not.
9/21/1866 Jeffrey Melton 2-2-0 1 Allen Polito 2-1-0 Frank's Beginners C D TKO1
Polito didn't take Melton seriously in the first round and paid the price.
9/21/1866 Merlin Vienns 3-3-1 1 Oscar Thompson 5-1-0 1 Frank's Intergrp D D- KO1
What is this foolishness!!???
9/21/1866 Roderick Johnston 5-3-0 Frank Seiler 3-4-2 1 Frank's NY B B MD
Johnston utilizes the French style to a slim majority division (thanks in part to judge Dr. Chaos, who is weird).
