In this particular case, in addition to not wanting to give the Bears bulletin board motivation, you would think that Burress would have a thought about Toomer being out for the season and what that means for the Bears secondary being able to focus on stopping Burress. But no. Rather woof it up for the media.

Eh. He didn't say anything that crazy, really. It's just that when you or I say something like that, our co-workers or friends give us a weird look or say, "Well, I don't know...". When a politician or athlete says something like this, it makes headlines.
This is a non-story to me. He said the Bears don't have the best cornerbacks he's faced. Big deal. It's not like he said they suck, the Bears D sucks, and the Bears entire team sucks. He didn't say he was going to catch six touchdowns and break every single-game receiving record. He said something pretty tame that very well could be true.
