I imagine pretty much every contract in MLB has bonuses for MVPs, all-star appearences, etc, even if they are modest (by the standards of MLB salaries, that is.... $50k is still quite a chunk of change)
On the slightly cynical side (I do this to all my players), offer a 2 million bonus to every player. What's the risk to you? Well, since there's only 1 MVP and 1 Cy Young, your combined risk is $4M, which you will gladly part with if you have the MVP and the Cy Young on the same team. And your players? Each of them has a much higher potential contract value. It's bulletproof.
