The available teams are:
The Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants. Here is a briefing of each team:
The Texas Rangers have a great hitting team but their starting pitching is weaker than some other teams in their division. They have a solid Minor League system with one of the best pitching prospects in the game. The previous owner didn't make many trades in his two seasons with us, the core of the team: Blalock, Tiexera, etc... is still there. Alfonso Soriano & Michael Young jrecently left via Free Agency. The Rangers finished 82-80 in 2005 after making the playoffs the previous year. The previous owner of the team left the league because as he cited he went from first to last in just one season, and feels he can't compete with the pitching heavy teams like Seattle & Anaheim. Keep in mind that the worst team in the AL West in 2005 (Seattle), went from one of the worst teams in the league to playing in the AL Championship, so if you are an active owner, you can turn this team around right away.
The San Francisco Giants play in a weak division, so anything is possible. They finished 2005 at 69-93, but they were only 11 games back. The Dodgers won the division with a losing record. An active owner can get this team to the playoffs right away. The Giants have a decent hitting team led by Ichiro Suzuki (RF) and a solid core of good young pitchers.
