2078 It is decided that all three companies would take a flight to the new planet. Each would be using a NASA designed space ship. Each would have NASA astronauts to assist with piloting the ships. Each would have some military presence on board to provide some protection if the space colonists were threatened on the new planet. Companies would draw lots to determine the launch order of the three ships. Companies would also be able to choose landing sites. NASA planned to use the same sites that were used for the the probes.

Stonington Air is new to the space travel industry. The company started as a courier service. Then they expanded providing private jets for travel. Now they wanted to be the first to provide passage to the new planet; and to Mars,

Addison Aerospace was the first private company to transport people and supplies to the moon and Mars. They anticipated an easy transition to providing service to Terranova.

Trevelyan Space Travel, as the name implies, was no stranger to the business of transporting people in space. The company began by offering tours around the planet in lower earth orbit. They soon built a space station that served as a hotel where visitors could experience life as an astronaut. Finally the company added tours to visit the bases on the moon and Mars. They had plans to put a resort and amusement park on Mars. But those plans were put on hold because of the discord. They decided to take those plans to the new planet.

Stonington Air and Addison Aerospace quickly became rivals. The Trevelyan Space Travel ship would be filled primarily by its own employees. And they had reached out to many of the universities around the globe and sold many spots to their representatives. As a result, they didn't have a lot of seats to sell. But Stonington Air and Addison Aerospace would need to fill their seats. And being able to say they would be the first to land on the new planet was viewed as a big selling point. And landing in the southeast corner of what they were calling Terranova, was an even bigger selling point.
