How to ‘sim ahead’ to see upcoming rookies?

Some owners in the NPBL have asked me “Please post next year’s rookies so we can plan.” In the LBA, we put our draft class in BOSI by ‘simming ahead’ to get their info. How do I generate the rookies for the pre-season draft in our upcoming season? Create a dummy league and sim ahead to the next year's draft, and somehow transfer those rookies from the dummy league back to the real one? Surely the game generates a random set of rookies, I couldn’t ‘sim ahead’ to generate the same rookie class that the game will generate when it gets to that point naturally?

Want to see upcomign rookies...
I am working on a website that will show ALL the upcoming rookies for each year...
It is still in development now, and when I get finished I will post more information about it...
It is useing the Lahman DB, and gets all it's infro from there, so it's really only of use for historical leagues...

I would assume you could probably do it by exporting/importing the CSV files from the league setup screen.

I guess I would wonder why there would be a need to show the rookies for next year? What do they want to see? How many third basemen are in the draft? What the players names are?
Call me cynical but it could encourage tanking. If a team is scuffling along in the second division and sees 4 great prospects head and shoulders above the rest of the draft class, they might want to 'ensure' they get a chance to grab one of those four bottom slots in the standings.

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, Satch, but I am curious what your league's member's reasons are for wanting to see next year's draft class.

I might have a reason.....

Say you are an aging team aroudn .500, and you think it might be time to rebuild, or time to trade picks to make one last playoff run...

If you see the upcoming rookies suck, you might as well go for the playoffs, if you se the upcomign rookies are good, you may descide this us the year to rebuild...

Yeah, you're proving Legends point. I wouldn't show them until draft time.

Setting it up for a June draft is your only option. Simming ahead to show your next year's rookie wouldn't work(unless you are a historical league). You will get a different crop when your official file starts new season then when your simmed ahead version did.

Setting up for a June draft will at least give your owners some warning of what's to come, but you can't do it a year in advance.

Thanks guys. In the LBA we do have the June draft, so I suppose that’s how we did it there. It looks like a no-go for a preseason draft.

(I don’t think that the owners who wanted to see the upcoming rookie crop had sinister intentions.)

There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt.

Just like real life! (clap clap clap-clap-clap) Sorry, but it is...you know, just like real life. Anyways, are youse guys sure that you can't import the rookie class via CSVs?

You can only do the CSV import if the league is set up as a historical league I believe.

Yeah...in the LBA we do a June draft - no simming ahead at all. Even though the draft's in June, the ammys are available as soon as you roll-over to the next season.
