Need help setting up historical league

Every version of the game (OOTP,9,10,11,12,16,18,20) I start a 1901 MLB league with AAA/AA/A minor leagues. I've tried (three times) starting the the same league in OOTP22 and even though I select having three levels of minor leagues I end up having a Reserve Roster.

In Game Settings>League Settings>Historical I see a check box for "Import & maintain real minor leagues". I have this checked. I don't see anything in the online manual about this option. Is this why I have a Reserve Roster and it will automatically change to Minor Leagues in a later season when MiLB becomes affiliated with the MLB? Or have I missed something else setting up this league.

if you have box "import & maintain real minor leagues" they won't appear in the game until they did i real life. That's 1914-15 for the Federal League and 1919 for Texas League, and i think 1920 for the Negro Leagues, though it may be 1919 for Negro Leagues - not at my game and don't recall exactly. After 1920+ the minors start trickling in until the 30's & 40's when there is a glut of them. If you were to create these leagues yourself, playing historical with minors enabled, they will vanish after each season, as when next year rolls around they will not be part of the real historical database. So, nothing wrong with your set-up. Just have to wait for the historicals to do their thing.

I think that if you go to Rules under League settings, if you disable the 40 man roster rule it gets rid of the reserve roster.
