24 teams / 84 games
Hello,
I'd like the schedule to start on the second weekend of March (that Friday). I have a schedule request for a 24 team league, 3-game series only, games only played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays regularly. I'd like for 4 weeks to be "off" where they don't play that weekend (kind of like soccer where they have international play). So for example, they start playing the second weekend of March, then in May they have a weekend where they do not play a series. Then the same in June, August, and September. I'd like for the 4 series not played on weekends to play during the week during 2 weeks in August and 2 weeks in October. I'm trying to replicate a soccer style of schedule, but in baseball. The league structure is 1 subleague, 4 divisions, 6 teams. |

At first glance I thought I had a handle on this, but now I have questions unless I am misinterpreting.
84 games is 28 three-game series. With that league structure I assume 10 series in-division (2 per opponent, 1 home & 1 away), and 1 series against every other team (18 in total) with overall home/away balance. But I am not understanding the timeframe. Four weeks do not have a series, but as I interpret it those are made up with instances of weeks with two series. So the average is still 1 series per week (4 with zero, 20 with one, 4 with two). That means still 28 weeks long, which is a little over 6 months. Starting early/mid-March would end in mid-September. The principle can still work, the timeframe is just shorter. So maybe start in March, offweeks in May/June/July/August, double-up weeks in July & September. Or could start later. Just need to compress one way or another.
