Bug before playing(STEAM)

Getting this error as soon as I purchased, installed, and tried to play for the first time. Haven't even seen the opening screen yet. Uninstalled/Reinstalled the game already.

OOTP24 works fine and this computer is less than a year old.

I requested a steam refund and purchased from here and it is working fine. The steam download must have a bug.

Glad it's working!

Usually verifying the local files on Steam will fix this sort of thing.

Did you mean "Verify integrity of the game files?"

If so I tried that with no luck. Not real concerned about it at this point but I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this as Steam is my preferred purchasing option.

fwiw I'm playing with pc Steam version and have had no issues.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

Did you by any chance try to set up a custom data path? Sometimes I've seen that cause similar issues.
