Just piling on, but I absolutely love the idea of park cards. One of the most fun aspects of this game is learning about players I didn't know, and I'm so interested in the history of the game - finding out about old, long-disappeared ballparks would just be so cool.

I was fortunate enough to be off work the week I played in PL....didn't help much as I won only 70 games

3 time PEL champ Warbirds won the PL title with a neutral park as well as the Las Vegas Gamblers a couple of seasons ago....it can be done.

Meanwhile, tournament mode uses standard parks and and only default defensive positions.

This seems backwards to me.

I agree on the line usage. I've played so many teams with players playing positions they've never played in real life just because they can train them up to be better than original position they played exclusicely IRL.

Does anyone really know how many games Jeff Bagwell has played in at 3rd base in MLB career? ZERO...Bagwell has never played 1 inning at 3rd but he can train there?

Jeff Bagwell in OF....only 7 inninigs in OF

There are so many instances that skew the game, but I'm a sucker that keeps on playing

The problem in PT park factors IMHO is that everybody tries to get the same best players and build the park factors to fit that meta. If we had park cards, then it would be more realistic in that you build your team to fit your park instead of your park to fit your team. Then I believe that we would see more variety in lineups.

I said it in a different thread but it's the way park factors work that are ridiculous. A left handed slap hitter gets the same benefit as a left handed heavy pull flyball hitter because all that matters is changing a number, it doesn't have to have any correlation to what an actual park would look like.

I don't think that is very accurate. the park factors are applied to BABIP as far as I can tell...so it affects hitters with different ratings profiles differently. Slap hitters with good avoid K benefit more than sluggers since strikeouts are unaffacted

There's been somewhere around 150-200 ballparks in the MLB since the late 1890s - plenty of options to create ballpark cards from. Your initial team pull could include one ballpark card, and they can be pulled and sold just like any other card in the game.

Yes it changes impact based on babip, but the point is it just gives a constant boost based on handedness and not where they would physically hit a ball. A left handed hitter who pulls the ball can get a 10% average boost while a right handed hitter who goes the opposite way gets a 10% penalty even though those balls are hit in the same place.

I like the idea of being able to change your ball park factors to either suit your team or recreate your favorite field. What I think is unfair, is that you have only 10 "days" into a season to change them. I work a full time job, and I am not around a computer within the first few hours of the start of a season to change mine. I think I was off one Monday for a holiday, and I was able to change it, and for now I am stuck with them. I just think there needs to be a better option to change them.

Who would the devs need to negotiate with to license the use of historical ballparks?
