Brett and Yount?

I have SE Jackie and wanted to continue to build an infield that can compete at high levels. I love Yount for defense, and Brett can obviously hit, but are they Diamond material? Or even FOTF Cal? Comparing the infield positions it seems 2nd has the least amount of available talent, so that is where I expect to play Jackie. The last player I was considering (even though not an infielder) was FOTF Griffey. Again love the defense but worry about the Avoid K at diamond. He was my favorite player as a kid, so I would love to have him, but more importantly would want someone to perform.

Hold SE Jackie. Yount is borderline unplayable at Diamond. Brett/Ripken/Griffey are platoon bats at Diamond. Brett's defense can be a problem, and, if he is not hitting (which happens), he is also unplayable. While SE Jackie may look less appealing given the influx of FOTF studs, he remains extremely playable, even in Perfect.

Do you have recommendations for those positions?

I am currently platooning FOTF Brett and FOTF Ripken, Jr. at 3rd in Diamond 359 Brett is hitting very well for me, Ripken is a total bust. But as a platoon, I will ride out the rest of the week, and hope Ripken catches fire. His defense is playable.

i was using FOTF Schmidt last week in Diamond (my first week) and before that, in Gold and Silver. He was a total failure offensively, and defensively....single WORST player on my team for four straight weeks. Shocking!

Haven't tried Yount yet, but I doubt I will.

Good luck with your decision here. But Brett has been a pleasant surprise for me here, as I have read he doesn't hit at Diamond.

Yount is borderline unplayable at Diamond.
This is not what I'm seeing in my Diamond Leagues as I've been scouting him as a potential purchase.

There are five teams over my two Diamond leagues that use him as their everyday SS, and he has an average OPS over those five teams of about .800. A couple teams do have offensively oriented ballpark factors, but the couple that use neutral factors get about a .770 OPS out of him. Add the quality defense at SS, and that's not unplayable for most of us, or at least one of us (me).

Just using my two Diamond leagues as examples again, almost all of the FOTF Bretts have OPS's over .800.

I'd still definitely hold SE Jackie instead, but my takeaway from this is that "unplayable" certainly means different things to different people.

I definitely plan on keeping Jackie. I just have him at short right now and would love to move him to second.
