TY Cobb

Ty Cobb 1910 Snapshot 99 card
In real life struck out 46 times in that season he hit .383
In PT time this past season K'd 196 times, over 100 times for last 7 season. Only K'd 720 times his career never more than 57 times in a season. hit a smashing .247. No wonder last team to have this card before me put him back in AH. These 99 cards cost too many PP to get crap like this. Should have ability to see previous season of card in AH. If we gonna spend PP/cash for supposedly high ranking cards we should have ability to see previous stats to make better decisions with our money & PP. Sorry by just a long history of this stuff...Or at least make cards worth it. I know it'll never happen.I'm gonna get my money worth of whats left this version then I'm done with Perfect Team...For those that care..I spend quite a bit of $$$ every year on this. too embarrassed to say how much tho

Stats are relative the year played and then transferred as if it were 2010. So, if 46 K's was high in 1910, then he will have lots of K's in PT because a high rate of K's in 2010 is near 200.

Cobb did not strike out very much by any standard.

Could you have looked it up to check?

It wasn't high in 1910, not that many players with as many ABs as Cobb struck out less. 128 led the league that year.

What's to check? The 1910 stats are translated into 2010 stats relatively speaking. I'm sure Ty Cobb in PT hits more HR than he ever did in real life, but no one complains about that.

If you spend a lot of money on the game I am sure you already know this, but the way to tell he is going to strikeout a ton without seeing previous season's stats is by seeing that he has an avoid Ks rating of 51.

"So, if 46 K's was high in 1910"

That's "what to check".

If you feel that way about Ks then why would home runs be any different?

Cobb led the league in homers once and generally did hit a lot for his era. He didn't strike out that much though.

I just did a quick check, and the 1910 AL strikeout average per 600 PA was 67, while in 2010 it was 106.
Cobb´s total put him at 30th, which in 2010 would be 105, so if Tyrus were hitting against normal pitching then yes, 196 would be much too high.
However he´s hitting against all-star pitching every at bat so while it still may be too high, there´s no real way of knowing unless someone wants to see how he did against the top pitchers in the league that year. But then you have the problem of it being too small a sample so we´re back where we started.

I guess that Lucas Giolito NO-Hitter will drop him 8-10 points next week. He'll need maybe 2-3 more No-Hitters to get a small rating boost bc I'm sure Zips or whatever is used won't project him to have much more success, like the rest of the White Sox. Abreu for sure is gonna drop bc he's too old per ZIPS to get any better, LOL. Pretty much since SOX has taken over 1st the whole teams ratings should tank even more...but PADRES will zoom off the charts

Growing a little tired of these salty fans threads. Productive discussions to help the game are one thing, sarcastic riddled posts help no one.
