Interesting splits. Do you platoon your catchers equally? Or does one of them play more against Left-handers? That might skew the pitching stats also.

Yeah I use Kelly/Bench vs RHP and Bench/Kelly vs LHP , there's is the fact that my RHP will most likely have worst numbers when Bench is catching due to facing lefty hitters more and vice-versa....

.... so the numbers are not and will never be close to perfect, but over two seasons they start to paint a picture when you have 100 GP for each catcher....

I am missing something...how did you get these splits?

Vs L / Vs R for pitcher? Wouldn't that be against the batter and not the pitcher and so not relevant.

Yes it is irrelevant.... the report is not what I thought lol, that said, looking at the history of SP i've faced it's about even L vs R SP..... So a better report would be to just display the total and not the splits.

I'm certainly not convinced either way from the limited samples presented in this thread so far.

Has anyone stuck with the same 2 catchers (with significantly different defensive ratings) the entire run of the game so far? I keep making upgrades to my catchers preventing them from accruing a large enough sample.

I'm not trying to convince anyone, but it is a known fact that D is irrelevant...I mean even in OOTP 20.... never been an issue with King as a catcher.
If i'm not mistaken there's even been acknowledgment by devs, although admittedly I haven't seen it directly myself... heard it on discord during some open discussion on this topic.

I'd definitely agree it's a "known fact" for OOTP 20. The question which I believe is too early to answer definitively, is whether anything has changed in this version.

Have you seen any release notes stating that this was fixed? (or going to be addressed)

Nope I haven't. And if you want to make assumptions about how it works, it certainly is reasonable enough to assume it's the same as last year. But I am not really satisfied with that assumption until I have data to support it. That's all I'm saying. The devs did make some statements about "looking into it", and I'd like to give them some benefit of the doubt, at least until the data is more convincing.

I am positive i have seen this in release notes or on the Launch show but haven't been able to find that. Oh well...eventually it will be evident

There was definitely a fix on framing in normal game.... it's evident so they say. But it's not translated to PT.

I agree i would love to get a dev official word, but seeing is believing for me and until I see otherwise (Bench performing better than King for example) I'll keep playing the same way.

What I would love to see is Bench having a much higher % in throwing runners and King having many many more passed balls and errors, but the reality is that right now, this isn't happening, in fact it's King the better catcher in some cases.

Forget that filter, as pointed out it's irrelevant as I'm using the wrong splits report

about 1.5 runs (6.9 per 1368 Innings) against Bench
about 3.5 runs (13.2 per 1368 Innings) against Kelly


Errors per 1368 Innings
Bench: 4.6
Kelly: 18.8


Passed Balls per 1368 Innings
Bench: 4.6
Kelly: 11.3

Range also speaks for Bench

So I checked my OOTP20 team where I played Smoky with defense of 40+ and Bench 120+ and CERA was 3.63 vs 3.13 in favour of Bench. Pitching had high stuff and low control. Other team Ewing - 92 def CERA 4.71, Kendall - 53def CERA 4.85 but high control pitching staff.
