Adding Historical Teams Early

Is there a way to add in historical teams early?

For example, I've been playing in OOTP 18 with the Baltimore Orioles, and they'll turn into the New York Yankees.

In OOTP 19, the NYY Historical ID doesn't come in until 1881.

Is there anyway to have the Yankees franchise start in the league in 1871?

I have a feeling it involves editing the historical database, but I can't find it in the game files and I'm a pinch worried about messing with it.

Edit: I just tried putting in BL2 (precursor NYY) in 1871, and it didn't work. Just copied the information in the teams.csv file on 1882 and put them in 1871. Opened the game, didn't work. Any suggestions?

That is a good question. There needs to be some disclosure on what is possible with some of the game functions.
