Does your league generate revenue?
A football league I'm in, TUFF (www.tuffonline.net), uses fictional teams and players and even logos. I'm in the process of creating a baseball league to match it, but I won't be doing what they're doing with logos, but maybe some of you could use the idea.
Cafepress (www.cafepress.com) allows you to send in uncopyrighted material for use on merchandise that people can buy, of which you get a percentage of, which could help in any number of ways (server fees, etc). It's neat because you send them the graphics, and they take care of creating the merchandise (shirts, hats, coffee cups, etc.) and they take a cut of every sale for it. Granted, it doesn't generate a lot of money, but even a little is better than none. It may be only of interest to those folks in your league, but it is a good way for people to donate a little and get something unique in return. For an example of a cafepress online store, check out TUFF's store at www.cafepress.com/tuff,tuff2,tuff3,tuff4,tuff5 and maybe you'll find that this is something you might be able to use for your (and your league's) benefit.
