Another issue - fielders

This is another problem I would like to see addressed in the future.

I'm playing the Giants, Bonds is in LF (ok), they sit CF Grissom down for a rest and play Mohr who is rated at (3) in CF and (8) in RF. Tucker is the normal RF and is rated at (7) in RF BUT, (5) in CF and is faster than Mohr who is also rated at 8 in RF.

In this case, Tucker should be playing CF and Mohr RF. When Grissom starts, Tucker should be back in RF.

Can this be fixed? The AI should set its lineup and then check to see if players are playing their best rated position for that game. It just bugs the heck out of me.

This has been brought up and discussed by the beta team - and a number of possible formula's have been offered to try and handle this better. I suspect this is another item on the list once Markus decides how to fix it.

That's great news, thanks.

I don't think this should necessarily happen. Major league teams don't always do this. I think they tend to keep a regular where he's been playing, rather than shuffling him all over. in the example you cite above, Tucker isn't worlds better than Mohr in CF...maybe the AI manager thinks they're pretty even, and just wants to keep Tucker where he's been playing. If it was a 9 vs. a 2, then that might be a different story.

we seem to be stumbling into the "realistic vs. competitive edge" topic once again.

I respect your thoughts, but I disagree.

You are correct in saying Tucker isn't too much better than Mohr in CF, but he's faster (Mohr-3 speed/Tucker-7 speed) and Mohr is a 3 in CF and an 8 in RF. That's why I would make that move if I was the manager. The point being Mohr is MUCH better in RF than in CF. He's a liability in CF, but in RF he's very good. You're also increasing your defense in CF.

Two things. 1. I don't believe that speed has anything to do with outfield play in OOTP. 2. Your not increasing your defense, your increasing your range. What are the fielding percentages of the Mohr in CF/RF and Tucker in RF/CF?
