Join the HOB4 - as a player
Currently running at 32 teams in 1940 I find that I need to add about a dozen players each year to keep my draft at 4 rounds. For the first season I simply created some fictional players and randomly assigned them a hometown.
Then I decided I might as well name a randomly generated rookie after myself....so I might as well open it to everyone to have a player generated for the HOB. All I need is a full name, hometown and position. The game will generate the rest to fill out my draft class. You may end up being a hall-of-famer but you have just as good a chance of never playing a major league game. Remember it is 1940 so you may want to use a grandfather or your fathers name. For the first draft class I need to create 12 more rookies to go with the 2 I already added - myself at 3B and Ambrose Palica, real-life brother of pitcher Erv Palica. So the first 12 names get a shot at HOB4 immortality. If I get more than 12 the next group will join the following years draft class. Btw, the scouting report on my created rookie is 'He is perfectly suited for a career in the minor leagues." Ouch.

Created- Here is the pre-draft report on 23 year old Vyron Nights. He is an average talent who could make the starting lineup someday, but isnt the kind of guy you will count on to lead a team.
He does have average talent ratings for hitting and homers so he may have a shot.

20 year old Billy Joe Mays has some skills but not enough to make him into an outstanding catcher. He could evolve as a starter, but at this point looks to be a reserve.
If you need a consistanst starter, go with 18 year old lefthander Maury Baum. His mechanics are well-honed and he knows how to work the strikezone. 9 more and I will be ready to start the 1940 ammy draft.

21 year old James McDonald has above-average stuff and will do a nice job in a big league rotation.
Average potentials across the board but prone for injuries.

Lee Bierman, 21, has some skills but not enough to make him into an outstanding second baseman. ...at this point looks to be a reserve.
I will check back later tonight for the final 7 I need for the draft.

Scouting report on the latest additions
Sherwood Pierce Davis, 21, has a shot to play in the majors but isnt likely to be an everyday player. Davis has a great glove but not much offense. 20 year old Aaron Wolfson isn't a big time prospect but he is one of those sleepers who could work his way into the starting lineup. Wolfson has poor talent for hitting but brilliant power. Mackenzie Dolnick age 22. Nicknamed 'Golden', Dolnick is a huge prospect....write it down he will be a star in the future. This is a young man who has a shot at greatness. Don't worry about taking a chance on Woody Woodworth. The 21 year old is a solid prospect and will be a quality centerfielder.

I want to get to the draft now so I have filled it with a few other fictional rookies. I like the idea of Bush and Castro getting a shot. I believe Bush would not debut until the late forties but I will need some help on when Castro allegedly had his major league tryout.
Anyone else who wants to be in a future draft class please post the name, position and hometown below. Thanks to all who have participated so far.

You also could use Japanese players if you needed to fill out the spots. You are entering a time when baseball in Japan really started to take off, and 'professional' baseball has just been formed a few years ago (1936). I have a list of about 90 HOF players or so that I plan on importing into my league.

nice suggestion. Maybe once I hit 1950 I should start bringing some of them in. If you have any players you would reccomend please let me know.
