500ft Plus Homeruns (with data)

The WBL is an all time star league, so it's kind of fun to see all these moonshots. But there are, objectively, too many of them. Note that all of the cities are "real" North American cities with altitudes set appropriately.

Through the first 150ish games of year 2 of the WBL, we have had 11 homeruns of over 500ft.

List is about halfway down this page: https://wbl.dmlco.com/wp/wbl-year-ii-statistics/

Note that, per https://www.mlb.com/news/longest-hom...ast-c293547722, since 2016 there have been ... three. And none over 510ft.

I just noticed in another thread you mentioned inside the park home runs. You mentioned that you introduced some parks to your league with very large outfields. This could very well be why you're getting so many 500 foot home runs. You could create a park with the dimensions 800 feet in LF, 900 feet in RF and 1100 feet to straight away CF and guys are still going to hit home runs.

Yeah, I thought of that. It's not *that* extreme, these are historically accurate parks--places like the Baker Bowl and Shibe Field as examples. I think that accounts for a lot of the 450 - 500 ft homers, sure. These are ... a bit beyond, no?

As comparison, with most of the same parks in play, Year 1 only saw about a dozen 500ft shots. List about haflway down https://wbl.dmlco.com/wp/wbl-statistics/ .

My bad, I assumed you were creating fictional parks. Yes, I agree it does seem quite extreme.

This issue has continued being discussed here: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=356423

All parks have been edited so their maximum dimensions are well under 500ft, and the problem persists. Sorry to bump this, just hoping to get some informed eyes on it.

Are you using the latest patch? Build 80?
In my game it seems reasonable with the latest patch.

Just saw this in the patch release notes

Tweaked some trade balance
Fixed HR distance calculations
Fixed bat colors

So maybe that fixes it. Will keep tracking.

So ... I mean, totally sample size issue. BUT ... while HR distances seem better (many more in the high 300s than before), the 2 games I've played with patch 80 have seen 10 and 11 homeruns in them respectively. I know, I know, only 2 games. Will finish out the days slate (another 5 games) and update.

Just to update here.

* 500ft homeruns still an issue.
* Overall homeruns not an issue. With those first two explosive games, total HR's per game came out as

10, 11, 3, 5, 5, 2, 2, 0, 4, 6, 1, 7,5, 3, 5, 2, 3, 2, 3

So, nothing to see here wrt to the overall homerun rates. But, again, if anyone from the DEV side could comment on the 500ft moonshots, that would be great.
