Olympics generates too many foreign players in 1920's NHL

I'm playing an historical game from 1917-18 onward, now in 1922.

The Olympics took place in 1920, and since then a large number of players who took part have signed on as free agents with NHL and WCHL teams.

For example;

Hamilton Tigers have 4 Swedes, a Finnish and a Norwegian on their roster of 23 players.
The Canadiens have 2 Swedes and a South Korean.
Seattle have a Japanese goalie.
Ottawa have a Slovak winger.
Saskatoon have 6 or 7 assorted players including a Kazak goalie, a Hungarian and a Romanian player.

I have the Iron curtain rule turned on. None of these guys have 'real' stats so I'm guessing they shouldn't actually be signable?
It's not having much impact on the game as most of them are 1/2 or 1 star players and are in the minors.

Yeah, I know, I have some of the international players, particularly the early ones, rated too highly, I'm going to lower those ratings.

Is that a random debut game, though? You shouldn't be seeing several of those nationalities in a game in the early 20's with the normal database.

No, it's not a random debut. I have draft/17 option turned off, so players go to their actual teams, and use FHM player development option.

I wondered if the problem is those players just don't have another available league to play in? Perhaps at that point in history there could be generic non-playable foreign leagues, similar to the way bantam/midget operate in juniors? So these players would get assigned to Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, Asian league etc...

Could you upload that save (instructions here)? I'd really like to see who those non-European/North American guys are and what's going on there.

Re: generic non-playable foreign leagues, something along those lines is in the works for FHM8.

OK, I think I see what's going on there. In addition to some players being too highly-rated, the game is also generating some extra players to fill international rosters when the teams don't actually need them, and it's making those players too good. Should be easy enough to fix.
