FOTF Cost - Is it worth it?

This is my first year of OOTP, so I am learning a lot about the game, the missions and the AH. One thing I can't wrap my head around is the FOTF and how to approach it. I have spammed tournaments, and have just been keeping all the cards I get, so when they launch FOTF teams, I usually have a few cards to get me started. I am a big Red Sox fan, so I wanted to maybe chase the Ortiz FOTH card as it would be more meaningful to me (and from following a lot of threads, I am a F2P team, so I can probably live in the bottom half of Diamond for most of the game, or make a switch to build a team I like to watch for fun and entertainment. I guess here is my question. I have 66% Iron, 66% Low and 75% High Bronze, 0% Low and 7% High Silver, 0% of low and high Gold and 33% of Pre and Post Diamond done. I have 215,000 PP to spend, but I could also buy Ortiz right now for 100,000PP, but there are a few auctions with no buy now that are much cheaper at this time.

I guess what I am asking is, I think the cost at this time is way too much to be trying to finish the FOTF for a team, but I could buy a player if I wanted him. Am I undervaluing the packs that I would get from completing each mission? If I could finish a diamond level for 60,000PP and get 2 diamond packs, is that actually worth it in the end? Should I just be waiting for a few weeks, and when the next set launches the prices will continue to come down? I guess I look at Chuck Finley for an 7D average of 34,000PP and know there is no way you could complete that mission for less than that.

In my opinion, it's worth it only if actually collecting all the cards in the FOTF mission would be fun for you. I actually do enjoy trying to find cards as cheaply as possible on the auction house, but that's pretty difficult at this point now that the Boston FOTF has been released, as the prices are super inflated.

The cheapest method, almost certainly, would be to just buy the Ortiz card straight up. People tend to overpay for mission cards on the auction house, so getting all the cards to get the Ortiz would be super expensive. But if it would be fun for you, then it would be worth it.

I would also add you'd want to wait a while to buy the card directly off the AH as when they first release people are trying to milk every cent they can off the public. Over time, reality sinks in and the price drops.

Also, these mission reward cards can be found in packs which should depress prices over time. Somehow, we are supposed to gamble that the division, league and overall reward cards are worth collecting the whole thing. My strategy is to wait until the whole thing is released before making a commitment to completing it (ROTFL).

In terms of value it would be better to just buy the Ortiz from the AH. Just be patient. Last night you could have bought him for under 50k. The value of the FOTF cards has really plummeted in the second batch, it is typically much much much cheaper just to buy them in the AH unless you just happened to have most of the missions already complete. The AH is still out of control despite the FOTF really not having any sort of great value

The value is not yet known, because the end rewards are not known. People are speculating on those end rewards.

I was only talking about the FOTF value which is very well known and not nearly as valuable as people thought they would be. Obviously the AH is out of control just for the ultimate end game reward.

I keep hearing vague things about end game reward. Do we need to keep all the FOTF card rewards to get that or is it mission accomplished and don't need the actual cards? Wondering if unloading a FOTF cards on AH is worth it or detrimental to end game reward. Or is that all up in the air? Thanks

it is a reward for completing the missions not having the cards. similar to how in 20 they added some rewards for all the live divisions and leagues
