#AscendToTheThrone - A PT "Dynasty"
Don't worry, my Patriots thread is going to continue. I just figured that now's as good a time as ever to begin a thread about my second team.
A "GIANT" OF A BACKSTORY The Tokyo Giants finished 108-54 in their Iron league in the 2024 season, top seed in the entire league. Not knowing that they were born to be kings, they attempted to storm the castle, but were turned back in 7 games in the National Conference championship series. Despite earning promotion to the Bronze tier, this was an embarrassing defeat that would mean the end of a weak ruler. Emperor Magus, the architect of the team and ruler of the kingdom, decided that this was unacceptable. After fighting off rebels who would usurp his throne, he knew changes had to be made. Heads had to roll. Executions had to be carried out. Thus, Emperor Magus came up with a plan. A plan that would change the course of the franchise. He pushed his money to the center of the table in an effort to upgrade the team even more for their upcoming Bronze campaign. Part two of the plan...bring the team back to its original kingdom. The club would be moving from Tokyo back to Emperor Magus's stomping grounds. Brooklyn, New York is a huge territory, fit for a team as honorable as ours. "The Dynasty...shall be forged out of the most perfect of baseball diamonds" Exclaimed the Emperor in an extremely confident, but also extremely stern tone. His subjects agreed...and therefore, the new kingdom was born. *insert knock off version of the "Game of Thrones" theme here* NEXT POST: You want a roster? You shall have one! The Dynasty begin the season 17-10, overcoming an 0-4 start and many threats of execution. Notable games from this first sim include Hunter Greene's 10 inning effort against the evil Hemel Hempstead Hustlers. Emperor Magus was furious after this loss, citing that a great warrior should not go 10 innings only to be let down by his woeful hitters.
The team has become as proficient at stealing the bases as their leader is at stealing the hearts of every woman he comes across, as they lead the American Conference with 33 steals, and are second in the entire league only behind RC Pilots (35). However, there is still an issue with this group of merry men. A few pitchers are not having good starts to their glorious campaigns. In fact, one of them, John Franco (0-1, 8.22, 1 sv), has been so bad, he has been sent back to the castle to undergo intense training until his arm falls off. Taking his spot on the roster is Ty Buttrey, who has also become the team's closer, with Kazuhiro Sasaki (1-2, 4.60, 7 sv) becoming the setup pitcher. The second full day of Bronze .235 play has come and gone, and it ends with Brooklyn leading the division by 5 games. However, there is a disturbance in the Kingdom. That disturbance being a 4 game losing streak, all against far inferior competition, which includes a 3 game sweep at home at the hands of the traitorous North Marysville Pigs. Their mascot is exactly what they are, and rest assured we will redeem ourselves the next time they come calling...OR THERE WILL BE EXECUTIONS.
Hunter Greene (3-6, 3.39) has continued to struggle, and our advisors believe that it is more than just bad luck. As such, he has been banished to the bullpen to sort himself out. Bert Blyleven (2-0, 2.88, 1 sv in 26 appearances) has been summoned to take his spot in the starting rotation. Throughout the day, there were open tryouts in the Kingdom as part of a recruitment drive. One fine warrior stood out among all the trialists, and as such he has been named our new closer to replace Ty Buttrey (1-1, 6.75, 4 sv). The warrior who impressed us was revealed to be Sir Sugar, also known to the commoners as Edwin Diaz. However, the rest did not meet our strict requirements, and thus were sent to the gulag that is Staten Island. For the moment, there will be no further changes...but the executions will begin in earnest if the losing streak continues. The executions began in earnest over the past two sims. Acquired in a random act of open tryouts just the other day was Jason Giambi (95), but after failing to impress in a trial run, he hath been sold for 11,000 points. The trials that ensued afterwards produced absolutely nothing. Emperor Magus was left furious and instead of sending them to the Staten Island gulags, he had the trialists executed on the spot via lava bath.
Joining the army from the reserves was left-handed right-handed pitcher killer Phil Cavarretta (72) to relieve some pressure off of an underachieving Hank Aaron. There's just one problem...now they're both underachieving. The executions will continue until morale improves. Another notable to join the team was an underrated silver-coated reliever who can get anybody out. Hersh Freeman (77) joined for 1,000 points. So far in just 10 appearances, we have been sold a lemon. The Kingdom guards have been sent to find the huckster who sold him to us, so they may be executed in our newest form of executions. We have two executioners, and whoever chop off the most limbs in 60 seconds wins a bonus. The other has to do extra executions with no paid overtime. Two members of the Dynasty have been sent to wherever the All Star Game was held this season to participate in it. Dwight Gooden & Willians Astudillo were deemed to be our best soldiers and thus represented Brooklyn proudly. Both players found their way into the game, with Astudillo getting a base hit in the 5th inning, and Gooden working a scoreless 6th inning. In a season that saw the dynasty wobble more than a few times, it is the glorious warriors of Brooklyn that emerged victorious out of the pile in the Bronze .235 playoffs, only losing one game en route to their first major success.
The Emperor is most pleased by this triumph. However, he has warned that all focus must come to defending the honor of the Kingdom next season in the Silver Realm. |
