FHM2 and Wine for Linux
Has anyone tried to set up and run FHM2 on WINE for Linux? If so, could you provide information on how to go about doing this? Thanks.

From what I've heard there is going to be a demo available soon, so you could either try that out yourself in wine or I could give you some more info if I attempt it myself.
To OOTP staff, is there a possibility of a linux version being released in the future? I was a bit surprised there wasn't one, considering that the past few versions of OOTP Baseball all have linux clients, and I thought the development environment for both games should be similar. To be fair, FHM2014 was not on linux either so maybe it was misguided to assume this would be. I guess I got overly optimistic hearing about engine overhauls and such, hoped to see a port... |

I've managed to get the steam version going with Wine after a bit of work. Here's what I did:
Firstly make sure wine is configured for windows XP compatibility mode. Install Steam for windows, and remember to add the '-no-dwrite' option when you run it, or else you won't be able to see any text. Download the game. In the directory where the game is now installed, cd to _CommonRedist/vcredist/2013, open the file named installscript.vdf and erase all contents. This stops the game from trying(and failing) to install visual c++ when you try to run it. Then manually install the vcrun2013 dll using the newest version of winetricks. I haven't stumbled upon any bugs... yet. I hope this works for you as well as it did for me. I also hope that a native linux version gets released at some point... |
