Steam Play issue

Hi, I have a Mac and a PC. I purchased via Steam since it had Steam Play and I assumed I should be able to have a single saved game available to me on either computer (as I did with Football Manager).

I just installed OOTP 16 on my PC after first playing on the Mac, but it did not give me the option to Continue on the PC with my saved game.

Is there some setting or anything specific I need to do with OOTP for this to work? Thanks!

I'm not an official word, but I thought I read that OOTP16 does not function in this way and probably won't work until OOTP17 or later. I don't believe OOTP16 has Steam Play functionality (assuming that Steam Play is what allows you to share saves).

I could be wrong, though.

If that's the case, then shame on Steam for displaying the icon for Steam Play and misleading me.

I hope you let Steam know.

Not really steams fault on this. Per steams definition of steam play, OOTP should have steam play tied to it.

(From steams website)
What is Steam Play?

Steam Play allows you to purchase your games once and play anywhere. Whether you have purchased your Steam Play enabled game on a Mac or PC (both Windows and Linux), you will be able to play on the other platform free of charge.

I did a search and found the post I was referring to. It appears that it is not possible. It's in the post titled "Steam FAQ"

Nope, sorry. We're looking into this for OOTP 17.

Crap you're right. It's been so long since I played that version of FM that I forgot I still synced my saved game through dropbox. Thanks.

OOTP needs Steam Play, a Steam Workshop, Steam online leagues and Steam multiplayer, and all of it ASAP. Money and opportunity are both being being lost.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Here's a thought: how about a Kickstarter campaign to raise whatever costs OOTP is going to incur in doing all that?

Steam Play just means that you can PLAY the game on both PC and Mac without buying a second copy. It has never had anything to do with the ability to continue saved games cross-platform via the Cloud.

Though with that said, it would obviously be a cool addition to OOTP.

Steam online saves would, though. And that's doable.
