Crazy Injury Numbers?

I'm consistently leading the league with 7+ major injuries per year. Not even joking. I'm on Normal (OOTP Classic) Am I doing something wrong? Do my trainers/coaches play a big part? If yes, what type of trainer attributes matter most?

I am also having injury problems. The OOTP classic is actually below the major league average. You and I just may be going through a period of bad luck and will revert to the mean as the sample size increases.

Yeah I'm guessing. It was actually great in the beginning. These past 2 seasons I've had easy 100 game winning teams and have been absolutely annihilated due to injuries. My final month I had a 6 game lead, lost my top 2 Cy Young starters, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, and Profar. 5 core players all in top 5 of MVP/Cy voting gone and I didn't make the playoffs.

LOL, you actually enjoy stacking up your team like that?

I like parity and not taking advantage of the AI. Oh well, to each our own.

Today's butcher bill in baseball:

MLB Baseball Injuries - CBSSports.com

Two more weeks of spring training slaughter is on the way. 9 (or 10, depending what happens with Chatwood) SEI are logged. I bet 2 of the SEI are actually CEI (Floyd and Lee) but they haven't accepted it yet.

Hard seems extra easy this year, last year on hard I didn't get those types of deals. I put it on the hardest mode a year after trading for those guys.

But I only kinda cheaped for Trout and Profar. Harper was a FA and the 2 pitchers were a free agent and a guy I drafted and developed myself.

Some inconsistencies on that link. Lincecum has been playing this spring. Just pitched today, in fact.

Last update was 3/11 on Lincecum. I bet with today's start that he will be removed tomorrow.

Yeah, I know it's bad, but I've gotten 8+ 3-4 month injuries past 2 years. Well it's looking good this season, just 1 in June.

Thats good to hear. Currently, I have 5 starters on DL for over 2 months. Went 1-9 in last 10.

Yes, something is wrong. Brand new historical year, 1901 start, haven't even reached the end of May and I have FIVE people who were hit with 3+ month injuries, while the rest of the entire league combined only has two...

What makes it worse is each team doesn't even have a full 25 man roster, so I'm down to only 18 players and it's not even the end of May...

It's probably just a streak of bad luck. I'm playing on high injuries and I've only had one guy go down for more than a month in 2.5 years played. It'll likely even out in the end or you have more injury prone players than average.

In 1901, most teams used less than 25 players for the entire season, and several used less than 20.

If you have 5 guys in the top-5 of MVP.. injuries are deserved IMO

"I like parity and not taking advantage of the AI. Oh well, to each our own."

The part of OOTP Baseball that isn't good is that it is so easy to take advantage of the AI.

Manage only mode in '16 stops it. So did just assigning AI to all GM duties in '15.

Maybe some day the game can be improved as far as AI trading and evaluation.

What you just stated is why really wish OOTP would offer one more injury setting option. Would love to see a setting that limited all injuries to no longer than 15 days and increased the number of "red" day to day type injuries. A setting like this would be great for dead ball baseball and real transaction replays.

an option to limit the severity of injuries would be excellent. I often go in and edit injury length especially for key players on the other teams ( I manage one and generally accept the length of injuries) in an effort to minimize my advantage over the AI.
