adding capacity to your ballpark
i am having an Atlanta Bravesbrun with the Pirates, 11 straight first place years, and I so happened to have won 3 titles. I felt it would make sense to add some seating to my ballpark, does it sound reasonable?

Doing so really boils down to increasing your gate revenue. If you can add seats that will get filled it is worth it. If it leads to a higher % of empty seats it may not be. I have found that you can usually fill most of your seats by pricing correctly. It is better to sell 51,000 tickets at $32.50 than 36,000 at $42.50 for example. It may in your case be more profitable to raise your prices a bit if it doesn't hurt attendance much or it may be more profitable to add seats and keep the prices the same or even lower them some.

Does a half empty stadium negatively impact a team somehow in OOTP? I may be wrong, but it seems like it's only a matter of attendance x price = gate revenue. Since it doesn't cost anything (in OOTP dollars, so to speak) to increase stadium capacity, I don't see any reason why not to.
IMO, this sounds like it would be a good addition to OOTP, making adding seats cost something for the team. This would add another level to the financial strategy. |
