Fhomess Baseball Card Co.

Introducing the Fhomess Baseball Card Company.

There's a lot of great work being done to recreate some of the actual baseball cards of the past. However, with the knowledge that OOTP isn't currently capable of reproducing them all due to various issues, I thought I'd help fill in the blanks or provide some alternates by generating some fictional cards for those who want to use them. I don't really have any sense for how many of these I'll end up doing. I'll give each card a year designation just like we associate with real cards (e.g. 1973 Topps, 1989 Upper Deck, etct.). Hope you enjoy them.

1996 Fhomess

I've given these the 1996 designation as the base cards are pretty basic but the team-colored gradiant makes them slightly more modern than 80's style cards. The All-Star and HOF cards make use of silver and gold leaf foil on the fronts.

Great work. I like that they show more of the uniform than any current card mod.

Great looking layout. Thanks.

Tried it right away and the only problem - know I've seen it discussed elsewhere, but I don't remember the solution - is that the characters in player names translate as boxes instead of letters. How do I go about changing the font it uses and which font would be best representative for the card?

Thanks in advance.

And I really like the idea of labeling your creation with your own trademark as you've done. I'm sure FHOMESS CARD CO will join the landmarks of the OOTP legacy.

I like the idea of fictional card sets. I do think that the real-life cards provide good ideas for templates, but the well of those that can accurately be made in the game is being dried up a bit, so its good to see some that are just trying to utilize well what the game allows you to do.

I'll be following this thread and hope to see the work develop.

Has anyone figured out a way to keep the 'gap' in the cap panels from showing up?

Glad people are open to the idea of fictional card sets. At the least, it's a decent alternative for those who want it.

I haven't figured a way around this. If you go into the xml files, you can replace the "font_name" field with a different font on the line that includes the [%PERSON_NAME] token. In this set, I use a couple of different fonts, and the full list can be found in BMW's excellent guide to customizing cards.

I'm liking the idea! Look forward to seeing what other designs you come up with!

This is a great idea, and I am one of the fans of fictional worlds, and I can't wait to see what you have coming for other years (but with color changes, you could do this one again and again!)

Thanks for a great idea!

Nice work. I like the idea of having designs that are not immediately recognizable as a previous year's template. I have been sketching out a few ideas for my next attempt. I really like your "foil" concept.

There is not much the designer can do to control this, the amount of photo displayed is related to the ratio of the dimensions selected for the photo. The XML does not allow for selection of a zoom or panned out photo. Some of the old-time cards fhomess and BMW created have more of the uniform showing because of their skinnier dimensions

I've been thinking about creating fictional historical baseball cards for OOTP for a little while... Now I have my incentive to get moving on it! Thanks.. and my eventual goal is to match the quality of these!

Is it possible for the gradiants to be the two team colors used in game rather than the team color #1 and white?

Thanks.

The white gradient is a graphic that is on top of the team color portion of the frame. I wonder if it could be changed to use the trialpha colors so that it could be the team color #2 instead..

Interesting stuff here... I might try playing with that tonight after work..

Of course that would mean the text color would have to change according to the gradiant color too. I have teams where the 2nd color is black.
