Continuous Play

Hello there!
I want to start an historical game soon, but I am wondering if there's a way to manage a team without interruption, IE I'm asking if a manager is forced to retire when gets older and this way the human player must create another manager to take over the seat, or the game offers a 'mode' to lead a team thru the years without changing personas.

In other words, can I play the role of a never dying general manager?

You can play in commissioner mode and not actually run any of the teams. Or, if you're managing a club, you will never be forced to retire. You could be fired, but if you don't want this, then use the setting so that you can never be fired. And you will never die.
