MAC: Fullscreen mode, picture extends off page
I've mentioned this before, but never filed an official report specifically on this problem.
When playing in full screen mode (which is all the time) using the 9.2.3 build and all previous version 9 builds there are two problems. The first is only a little annoying, in that the picture forms low on the screen and has to be dragged up, which it can't be until it's finished loading. The second problem is a little mnore serious, in that even after the screen is dragged up as far as it can go, some of it is still off-screen to the bottom. I was so glad that Version 9 had gotten rid of that stupid toolbar at the bottom of the screen… until I found out some months later that it was still there, just off-screen. I can't check my build number because it's off-screen. Some of the things in the section where you play out the individual games are off-screen. And there may be more, but I wouldn't know because I can't see them to know what I'm missing. Since we've now reached the final patch and the problem has still not been corrected, I guess it's time to (again, but more officially) bring this to your attention. |

I am guessing this is the same thing that happens when I start OOTP in Fullscreen mode. In my case the game starts up the same as the windowed mode, but with the dock and menu bar gone. For me the game window does start at the top of the screen, though a few pixels offset to the right. The problem with this is that the window's title bar pushes the bottom of the game window off the screen.
Assuming this is essentially what you are seeing as well, there is a way around this behavior. If you go to game preferences and switch to windowed mode then back to fullscreen, the game enter fullscreen mode properly and the only thing offscreen is the window's title bar. It is an annoyance to have to do this every time you start the game, but it still beats missing part of the game window. |

Is your taskbar set to be "Always on top", Curtis? If so, you may wish to disable that.

And it's more than a few pixels low. It's low by more than the thickness of the titlebar. After it's moved back up and to the left I have no idea how much is offscreen, but it has to be quite a bit. I occurs to me that this might be related to an issue I mentioned in a thread immediately after initial release, which is that when the game is in windowed mode, my window size (1280 by 960) is not one of the available options. It may be defaulting the fullscreen mode to 1280 by 1024, which would give you an idea of how much screen I'm missing. The reason I mentioned this during initial release was that I couldn't understand why 1280 by 960 was not available in Version 9 when it had been available in both 2006 and 2007. Hope this gives you useful information concerning my problem, and I REALLY hope this gets fixed for Version 10. |

For reasons I completely fail to understand, the problem appears to have spontaneously resolved itself.
I noticed this the last time I started up the game in 9.2.3, but waited to post here about it until verifying that it remained fixed in 9.2.11. Note that 9.2.3 did not fix it, as the problem persisted for over a month under that build; last Friday it just decided to start working properly. No explanation. You can close this thread. |
