Delgado For MVP
Seriously, this guy has been on a positively insane roll for more than 2 months and is the main reason the Mets lead the division. Two more homers tonight...35 shots, 103 RBI...68 RBIs in his last 66 games and four multihomer games in his last 13.
The guy has been a machine at the biggest time of year. |

I never understood that, only because who were they going to replace him with? People don't think, and sportswriters generally give them very, very little reason to.

Yeah BIG turn around from how the begining of the season was going for him though. Main reason the Mets are in it right meow.

Meanwhile, Albert Pujols flings his remote towards his TV in disgust.

Albert is batting 95 points higher than Delgado. Albert's OBP is 117!!! points higher. Albert's OPS is 190!!!! points higher, at .860 to a cool 1.150 1.150 is a pretty good number, in the top 45 of ANY season, of all time. |

Albert's main competition should come from Larry Jones. Carlos Delgado's statistics are not remotely close to these two (and several other) men. He's just not close to deserving the MVP title.

he's not even the best player on his own TEAM.
In fact, other than last year, this is still his worst year since 1996. To date, he's yet to win an MVP, and he should get one now? Don't get me wrong... I love Delgado. I'm annoyed JP lowballed him to stay with Toronto. But he's far from deserving of the MVP this year. |

* And unless I'm mistaken, the players didn't either.

To the topic?
Ummm, heck no? The Mets wouldn't have "needed saving" if Delgado wasn't so pitiful the first half of the season. People love to find any reason they can to not give the MVP to Pujols, I believe. The guy is going to end up like Teddy Ballgame. Magnificent career with a handful of awards to show for it. Delgado may have been great down the stretch but when the Mets are languishing in the first half he was a LARGE part of the problem, too. |

Good question. 2001: fourth behind Bonds, Sosa, and Luis Gonzalez. 2002: second behind Bonds. 2003: second behind Bonds. 2004: third behind Bonds and Adrian Beltre (?!?). 2005: won. 2006: second behind Ryan Howard. 2007: ninth.
