Problem or randomness...

In the online league I commish (as with other leagues too) owners are allowed to preview contract extension reactions on their version of the league file in between sims.

One owner asked me to offer a player a certain amount and for a certain amount of years and when I put it in, the player refused and wanted more money. The owner says (and I believe him) that on his version, it was exactly what the player was asking for. No game time had expired so I am hard pressed to answer what happened other than maybe there is some randomness to the process. I never saw the player display the requested amounts that the owner quotes.

Is it possible for the same files to produce different asking prices at the same time on two machines? The only other variable that I can think of is that maybe the asking price was from a previous offer as we had worked through two or three offers back to back via email and the message board.

Help anybody?

Steve,

I have seen this before but I'm not certain which it is, I tend to think randomness but will try to get a certain answer.

I'll take it a step further. I have had a handful of occasions where a player will ask for a specific contract amount and when offered it on the very same computer, he says "I want more money". This despite the fact that it is the EXACT amount and number of years he is requesting.

So my guess is that the asking prices weren't different, but the player for whatever reason wasn't sure what he really wanted.

To loosely quote Rickey Henderson:

"I don't see what the big deal is. All I'm asking for is what I want."
