pitcher's batting stats

I brought this up last year when 2006 was released, and I ask again:

Why aren't pitcher's hitting stats included on their player HTML page? In any league without a designated hitter, pitchers (particularly starters) accumulate quite a few plate appearances, and some are rather known for their work at the plate.

Why can't HTML reports for pitchers include batting statistics? I know I can find them in other places, but I like the HTML pages, and would like them more with batting stats.

Any ideas why this seems to be an impossible addition?

Seriously -- no one knows why we can't see how pitchers hit?

I love this game. I think OOTP is amazing. I am such a stat nerd. I could spend days just reading stat sheets and such. But it's a pain to read stat sheets when half a player's work (even if it is the inferior half) isn't there...

The fictional league I've created has 24 teams with 16 players on each team. That's eight position players, a 3-man pitching rotation with two relievers and three bench players. Pinch-hitting is set to low, position player fatigue is set to low. These guys are workhorses.

And I wanna know how my pitchers do at the plate!

(The other side of this is the occasional position player throwing an inning or two -- do these things show up in the files? I do not know...)

It's because pitchers shouldn't bat.

Who needs a stupid, waste of a lineup spot cloggging up your lineup when you can have someone bat for him.

Long live the DH !!!!!

Well, I don't know. Maybe you should ask Joe Nobody? (I do think you have a good idea here.)

Then why not have nine fielders and nine DHs. It makes just as much sense. Who wants to see Rey Ordonez bat?

There's too much offense in the game as it is. They oughta raise the pitchers' mound another six inches, raise the strike zone at least that much, move the mound in to 45 feet from the plate and make the minimum bat weight 54 ounces. The Mendoza Line should be something to strive for, not an object of derision! Mendoza Libere!!!

I would like the pitchers to be able to hit in my league, can the ratings be changed so they can have decent stats?

If you go to the Game Setup screen, and export the rosters, the text file you get will contain every player's ratings, current and potential, in that league (not in the whole world, only that league and its free agents). I assume that you should then be able to make whatever changes you want and import them.

Yes, the good ole DH that keeps players who can't play anymore around way past the end of their playing days. I think when it gets to the point that a player can't play the field anymore, it's time to call it quits, or at least that is the body's way of telling them the end is here. Also, anyone who plays DH most of their career should not be considered for the HOF.

Managing in the A.L. requires no brains at all. I love the fact that in the N.L. strategy plays a big part in managing because pitchers do hit. I sure don't use DH in my leagues, the main reason is because it is no fun at all managing a DH team.

Exactly. I never use the DH, not even for High School and College leagues.
