I'm wondering what everyone does to develop starting pitchers. I'm really interested in what people do during spring training and what those things mean. What is Pure Stuff and what does Control affect? I have these great prospects, they come up, never get ratings about 7's, and then are done by the time they are 28. Help.

I think you and I have the same pitching coach/minor league managers :lol
I've been playing a career and have played over 30 seasons and have yet to figure out how to develop my stud prospects into stud allstars. Seems that they start out as "allstar written all over him" and turn into duds.

Here's a famous saying "When you can't beat them, cheat." OK so that's not the real saying but when the pitcher reaches 24, use the editor to change his age to 20 or something.

you might want to try drafting better minor league coaches. If your A coach has a pitching developement rating of fair, your prospects probably won't go far. You might also need to thin out your minor league system. If your starting pitchers are all above 30, you are not giving your prospect a chance to develop.

I do a few things.
For middle releivers, each spring I take one or two off stamina(based on their grade in their profile) and apply it to control, velocity, or stuff(based on their profile again). For starters, I do the same. Anybody with a stamina of B or A, I usually take one or two and put it to stuff and control. So far, so good. I've drafted two Cy Young winners and I have a pretty good crop of 2 and three guys. My best advice - during spring, look at everybody's stamina AND ratings, and mix and match. If a guys has a huge velocity, take a point away and put it somewehre else. If he gives up no walks and strikes out a ton, takke a point off and put it somewehre else. It's all mix and match, and honestly, I look forward to the offseason more so than the season itself
