U.S. regional cities.txt file
File is available from All Sim Baseball (thanks Fidel!) : Regional & Historical Mod
One of the leagues that I am planning to run is a fictional United States Regional League with a major league in separate regions of United States. While I am currently waiting on the first patch before starting the league, I started working on the data files. The first thing I wanted to do is split the U.S. into separate regions. Since I had the files, I thought I would make them available to the OOTP community. The regions are based upon the U.S. Census regions listed here: Census Regions map I merged the Northeast and Midwest regions into a single ‘North’ region as these regions contained most of the early MLB cities (Baltimore and Washington D.C. are in the South). Since I was planning to start the league in 1901, I used the historical names in OOTP. Before making the files available to the OOTP community, I considered that some members might want to have modern-day player names. The final version, therefore, contains 7 new ‘nations’: United States (North), United States (South) and United States (West) United States (Hist-North), United States (Hist-South) and United States (Hist-West) United States (Historical) – the entire U.S. using the historical name set I assigned ethnicities to the regions based upon 2000 and 1940 Census data (1940 was the first year that I found Hispanic listed in the Census tables). Some of the data did not make sense, but I did the best I could to estimate the percentages. This should result in the West having a higher percentage of Hispanic and Japanese names being created than the North and South. Also incorporated into this mod is Raidergoo’s 14000 Small Towns mod that (also available on All Sim Baseball) to give a larger variety in the cities that appear in the game.

What I am thinking of doing is having one region with better pitching, one with better hitting and one with more power. Hopefully no problems show up

Has anyone ever updated this file to be compatiable with OOTP2008 or OOTP9?

I don't believe it was updated, but check out SandMan's version to see if it would suit your needs. OOTP thread describing it is here.

Btw, are your semi-historical minor league uniforms available for download anywhere yet? They look outstanding.

TigerFan, as a great fan of your dynastys of yore, I shall upload them tonight!
The one thing I'm unsure of at this point is how I make it compatible for OOTP9's Add-On Central.
