Beebe had a no-hitter through three.

In the bottom of the third, Tinker led off by drawing his 20th walk of the season. He would go on to score on a Sheckard sacrifice fly.

After three: Chicago 1 Cincinnati 0.

In the top of the fourth, Barry led off with a single for the Reds first hit of the game. Hinchman would later deliver an RBI double to tie the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Beebe was attempting to bunt Kling over to third but a throwing error by Schlei allowed Kling to score. One outlater and Evers brought Beebe home with a squeeze bunt.

In the top of the sixth, Schulte dropped a Seymour fly ball, allowing Huggins to score from third. The Reds would go on to load the bases with one out. Seymour would then score the tying run on a wild pitch.

After six: Cincinnati 3 Chicago 3.

The next three innings went quietly to send the game into extras.

After nine: Cincinnati 3 Chicago 3.

The top of the tenth began with Tinker committing his 20th error of the season, booting a Mason grounder. Barry would go on to bring him home with a single. Seymour followed with a single to extend his hit streak to 11 games. The Reds would strand two but had taken the lead.

Charlie Chech took the mound for the Reds after pinch hitter Solly Hofman led off the bottom of the tenth with an infield single. Chance would later tie the game with a two out single that scored Hofman. Schulte then grounded to second to end the inning with the score tied 4-4.

Bob Wicker took the mound for the Cubs in the top of the eleventh. The Reds would strand a runner at second in the inning.

Gus Dorner took the mound for the Reds in the bottom of the twelfth and got the three up three down.

Carl Lundgren took the mound for the Cubs in the top of the thirteenth inning and he also set the side down in order.

The Cubs got the winning run on first in the bottom of the thirteenth but Steinfeldt flew out to center to end the inning.

In the bottom of the fifteenth inning, Cy Morgan took the mound for the Reds. He got the three up three down but injured his hand in the process.

Mordecai Brown took the mound for the Cubs in the top of the sixteenth inning. The Cubs committed two more errors and Odwell gave the Reds the lead with an RBI single.

Rube Vickers took the mound for the Reds in the bottom of the sixteenth and pitched the perfect inning to finally end the game.

The two teams combined for 10 errors. The Cubs had 6 of them and dropped their third straight game.

Final score: Cincinnati 5 Chicago 4 16 innings.

The Cubs lead the season series 5-4 and have won four straight against the Pirates. The Cubs will be trying to end a three game losing streak.

In the top of the fifth, Beebe walked Titus to issue his 60th free pass of the season. Magee would later score on a Doolan groundout to short.

In the bottom of the sixth, Beebe laid down a successful bunt to move Noonan to second and up his sacrifice hit total to 10. Evers then brought Noonan home with a single.

In the bottom of the sixth, it was tied up, thanks to a run-scoring single by Schulte. The Cubs then took the lead on an RBI single by Steinfeldt. Titus then dropped a Slagle fly ball and Schulte scored from third. The Cubs would then load the bases with two out but Brown grounded to short to end the inning as nine men came to the plate.

Ward led off the top of the seventh with a home run.

In the bottom of the seventh, Schulte knocked one in with a single.

Charlie Roy took the mound for the Phillies in the bottom of the eighth. A Hofman double scored one.

Brown finished off the Phillies in the ninth with the help of an unassisted double play by Chance.

In the bottom of the first, it was Chance delivering an RBI single to put the Cubs up 1-0.

In the top of the third, Gleason tied it up with an RBI single. A walk to Magee loaded the bases with two out. Titus then hit a two-run single. Magee then scored on an infield single by Bransfield. A disaster of an inning for the Cubs as none of the runs were earned.

The Cubs quickly tried to get back into the game in the bottom of the third as Hofman scored on a Chance line out to center.

Pitching and defense took over the middle innings.

After six: Philadelphia 4 Chicago 2.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Cubs had a golden opportunity to cut into the lead. Steinfeldt doubled but Schulte was thrown out at home trying to score from first.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Cubs put runners on the corners but Chance grounded to first to end the game.

In the top of the first, Bransfield picked up an RBI single.

In the bottom of the first, Chance tied the game with an RBI single.

After three: Philadelphia 1 Chicago 1.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Cubs looked like they were going to take the lead as Schulte singled to center but Thomas threw Evers out at home as he was trying to score from second. However, it would be Steinfeldt who put the Cubs in the lead as he hit a double that scored Schulte from first. Slagle then brought Steinfeldt home with a single. Slagle then stole his 20th base of the season but was stranded at second as Moran flew out to right to end the inning.

The top of the sixth ended in a strikeout throw em out double play with Moran recording his 25th caught base stealer of the season. It was Titus going down on strikes with Magee being the one who was caught stealing.

After six: Chicago 3 Philadelphia 1.

In the top of the ninth, Pfiester got the inning startedby striking out Bransfield for his 10th K of the game. Two outs later and the Cubs were putting one in the win column.

Donlin led off the game with his 10th double of the season. One out later, Strang brought him home with a triple. The inning would end, however, with Bresnahan striking out for the 20th time this season, stranding Strang at third.

In the top of the third, Bresnahan made up for his first inning strikeout by stroking an RBI single. Strang then scored on a Smith throwing error.

In the top of the fourth, the Giants loaded the bases with two out. But Beebe got out of the jam by striking out Devlin to retire the side.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Cubs got on the board on an RBI single by Steinfeldt.

In the top of the fifth, the Giants loaded the bases with nobody out. Burke flied out to left without bringing home a run and therewas one away. Mathewson, however, did bring the run in with a sacrifice fly to center.

In the top of the eighth, McGann all but put the game away with a two run double as the Giants took advantage of another Cubs error. McGann then scored on a ground ball by Devlin that was also turned into an error.

Six total errors in the game for Chicago was more than enough for the Giants to beat the Cubs.

In the bottom of the fourth, Moran picked up his fourth RBI of the game when his groundout to third brought Kling home with the tying run. Later in the inning, Hofman swiped second for his 10th stolen base of the season. But he would be stranded there as Evers grounded to short to end the inning.

In the top of the fifth, Bowerman gave the Giants the lead back with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cubs loaded the bases with two out. But this time Moran would ground out to third to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Browne doubled to bring home a run but he injured his leg sliding into second and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Ollie Pickering.

In the bottom of the sixth, Chance got an RBI double.

In the bottom of the eighth, Chance tied the game with an RBI single. After Chance stole second, Schulte brought him home with a single and the Cubs had retaken the lead. Steinfeldt made it a two run game with an RBI double.

The Giants came back in the top of the ninth with pinch hitter Roger Bresnahan bringing home a run with a groundout to short. But with the tying run at second, Devlin flew out to right to end the game.

The two teams combined for 26 hits in the contest.
