September 12th-September 18th

September 12th, 2019: The Chicago Cubs have clinched a playoff spot. At 94-47, they have a 11.5 game lead over the Brewers.

With the day off, I recalled the rest of my minor leaguers, CL Josh Hader and LF's D.J. Stewart and Delino DeShields. I have 38/40 spots filled, with just the injured Max Fried and Gavin Cecchini on the AAA DL. Neither will be back in time, although as of now, there is no one else I'd want to purchase.

We're off to Seattle to face the Mariners for three. We'll face Corbin Burnes (1-2, 8.75 ERA), James Paxton (12-5, 2.56 ERA), and Felix Hernandez (8-4, 4.28 ERA).

September 13th, 2019: A rare September trade occurred, as the Giants acquired RHP Lance Lynn and RHP Ryan Madden from the White Sox for C Michael Benson. I like this deal for the Sox.

We opened the series at Safeco with Carlos Rodon (1-1, 6.06 ERA, 1.71 WHIP) facing Corbin Burnes (1-2, 8.75 ERA, 2.28 WHIP). We need to win every game from now on. Seems impossible, but who knows? Uhh, I mean starting tomorrow, since we lost 8-5...

Both starters left with injury, although Rodon pitched "long" enough to get the loss, 0.2 innings with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 strikeouts.

Kevin Gausman allowed 5 runs in 2 innings off 4 hits, a walk, and a strikeout. Lucas Sims faired much better, 3.1 hitless innings with a walk and 5 strikeouts. Alex Colome allowed a run off a hit in 0.2 innings. Josh Hader made his Orioles debut, a third of an inning with a hit.

Nolan Arenado was 3-for-4 with a two run homer. David Peralta was 1-for-5 with a two run triple and a run scored. Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

September 14th, 2019: Carlos Rodon has a rotator cuff strain, and will miss 5 weeks.

We needed to bounce back with Reynaldo Lopez (13-6, 3.93 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on James Paxton (12-5, 2.56 ERA, 1.07 WHIP). We crushed the Mariners pitching and evened the series with a 10-5 win.

Lopez went 6 with 5 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), and 8 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez went 2.1 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeotus.

Trey Mancini went 3-for-5 with a homer and 4 RBI's. Anthony Alford was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a home run. Brnadon Lowe was 1-for-5 with a grand slam. Nloan Arenado was 3-for-5 with a run scored. Jonathan Schoop was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-5 with 2 runs.

September 15th, 2019: The Twins will be without Clayton Kersahw fo rthe rest of the year with a torn meniscus. The first year Twin was 14-5 with 204 strikeouts and a 3.21 ERA.

We looked to win the finale and the series with Shelby Miller (11-7, 3.87 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) taking on Felix Hernandez (8-8, 4.28 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). It wasn't as high scoring as yesterday, but we topped the M's 5-2.

Shelby Miller went 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Josh Hader, Joakim Soria, and Donnie Hart earned holds while Zach Britton got the save.

Anthony Alford was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and 2 RBI's. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Austin Hays was 1-for-4 with an RBI double. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored.

Rangers 3B Joey Gallo launched 3 homers in a 11-7 loss to the Tigers.

We're off to Kansas City for three with the Royals where we'll face Jake Junis (3-4, 4.15 ERA), Tyson Ross (2-8, 4.94 ERA), and Mike Fiers (7-12, 5.92 ERA).

September 16th, 2019: We reamined 10th in the Power Rankings. At 81-62, we're almost guaranteed a winning season.

We looked to make the guarantee a reality, with Miles Mikolas (11-6, 3.33 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) facing Jake Junis (3-4, 4.15 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) at Kauffman Stadium. We allowed 3 in the 7th, and the Royals took the opener 3-2.

Mikolas went 6.2 innings with 5 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 7 stirkouets. Blake Treinen went 1.1 innings with 3 hits and 3 strikeouts.

Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a double nad run scored. Nolan Arenado and Brandon Lowe were both 1-for-3 with a walk and triple. Chance SIsco was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

September 17th, 2019: The White Sox will be out of the postseason. At 61-83, they are 29 games out of first.

The Reds fired Manager Bryan Price. He's never had a winning season, and the Reds were 57-88. In his career, he's 407-548 and never finished above 4th.

We looked to bounce back with Aaron Sanchez (11-7, 2.83 ERA, 0.97 WHIP) facing Tyson Ross (2-8, 4.94 ERA, 1.55 WHIP). Both teams scored a run in the first, but that was all that would happen in the first nine innings. In the 10th, we broke the seal and scored 4 to win the middle game 5-1.

Sanchez tossed 6.1 innings with 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Joakim Soria improved to an impressive 8-0 out of the pen, tossing 2 innings and striking out 1. He's got a 1.10 ERA and 0.89 WHIP out of the pen, and has been an amazing Free Agent signing.

Anthony Alford was 2-for-5 with 2 runs and an RBI. Chance Sisco was 2-for-2 with a run, hit by pitch, double, and walk. Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Hanley Ramirez hit his 300th career homer in a 12-5 win over the Twins. Now with the Tigers, he's a career .287/.359/.488 hitter with 981 RBI's in 1,822 at bats.

September 18th, 2019: Robinson Cano severely strained his hip muscle, and will miss the rest of the year.

We looked to win the rubber match with Lucas Sims (0-1, 11.57 ERA, 1.86 WHIP) taking on Mike Fiers (7-12, 5.92 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). We got 7 in the 3rd, and won the series 8-4.

David Peralta left with an injury...

Sims went 5 innings with 8 hits, 3 runs, a walk, and 8 strikeotus. Kevin Gausman tossed 3 innings with 2 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 3 strikeotus.

Nolan Arenado was 2-for-5 with a grand slam. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Trey Mancini was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Brandon Lowe was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

We get tomorrow off, and will head home to prepare for a series with the Blue Jays.

September 19th-September 26th

September 19th, 2019: Indians RHP Dan Otero tore his rotator cuff, and will likely miss the start of next season. He was 6-1 with a 3.03 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 86 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals have both been eliminated from the postseason. The Royals are 64-82 and the Jays 62-83 and 27 and 28 games out respectively.

We're headed home to host those Blue Jays. We'll see Anthony DeSclafani (3-7, 4.15 ERA), Robert Stephenson (4-10, 9.00 ERA), and Colin McHugh (4-5, 6.71 ERA).

September 20th, 2019: David Peralta is headed to the DL for 3-4 weeks with a concussion.

His former team, the Diamondbacks, have been eliminated from the playoffs, as well as the Colorado Rockies. Arizona is 66-81 and the Rockies 67-80.

We opened the Blue Jays series with Reynaldo Lopez (14-6, 3.90 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) taking on DeSclafani (3-7, 4.15 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). It was a clsoe one, but they managed to top us 9-8 despite us having a 6 run 2nd.

Lopez went 4 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez went an inning with 2 hits and 2 runs. Alex Colome allowed a run and 2 htis with 2 strikeouts in an inning. Bryan Shaw went 2 innings with a hit, run, and 3 strikeouts.

Lewis Brinson went 2-for-2 with a run scored, double, and 2 walks. Anthony Alford was 2-for-5. Brandon Lowe was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with a walk and two run homer. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a walk, and homer. Victor Reyes was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and 2 RBI's. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-5 with a double, despite somehow hitting 9th. Austin Hays was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI.

September 21st, 2019: We needed to even the series with Shelby Miller (12-7, 3.83 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) taking on Colin McHugh (4-5, 6.71 ERA, 1.71 WHIP). We really blew this one, allowing 3 in the 9th to fall 7-6.

Miller went 5 innings with 4 htis, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Jake Diekman allowed a run and a hit with a strikeout. Zach Britton got the loss and blew the save, 3 runs and 3 hits in 0.2 innings.

Nolan Arenado went 4-for-5 with a two run homer, a double, and 4 RBI's. D.J. Stewart went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and a double. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Anthony Alford was 0-for-3, but walked twice, got a steal, and scored.

September 22nd, 2019: The Chicago Cubs clinched their division. At 100-49, they are 15.5 games ahead of the Brewers.

We couldn't afford to get swept at home, and Miles Mikolas (11-7, 3.36 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) took on Robert Stephenson (4-10, 9.00 ERA, 2.03 WHIP). Up 3-0 heading into the 8th, we completely fell apart and lost 5-3. Wow...

At least tomorrow is off...

Mikolas went 8.1 innings... 7 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Hader tossed 0.2 innings with 2 hits, a run, and a walk.

Brandon Lowe was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and 2 runs scored. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4 with a run scored, double, and RBI. Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-2 with a walk.

September 23rd, 2019: We dropped to 12th in the Power Rankings. At 83-66, we are now tied with the Twins for the 1st Wild Card.

The Dodgers have clinched a playoff birth. At 90-60, they have a 3.5 game lead over the Padres.

Kenley Jansen recored his 300th save in a Dodgers 5-3 win over the Pirates. The 31-year-old has a career 2.01 ERA in 622.2 innings with 927 strikeouts.

The Red Sox come to town for three, and we'd see Rick Porcello (9-9, 5.00 ERA), Eduardo Rodriguez (8-7, 5.34 ERA), and Dallas Keucel (11-9, 4.67 ERA).

September 24th, 2019: At 94-56, the Indians clinched a playoff spot. They have a 11 game lead over the Twins.

The Cardinals, on the other hand, will not participate in the playoffs. At 73-78, they are 28 out of first.

We opened the series with our best pitcher, Aaron Sanchez (11-7, 2.78 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) taking on the guy who stole his Cy Young Rick Porcello (9-9, 5.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP). It took us 12 innings, but D.J. Stewart hit a walk off homer off Cam Shepherd, and we managed to suck in a 2-1 win.

Sanchez was brilliant, 8 innings with 3 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 10 strikeouts. 7 pitchers then combined for 4 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts. Britton, Hader, and Treinen both tossed an inning with a strike out.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-5 wiht a double and run scored. Chance Sisco 2-for-5. D.J. Stewart was 1-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with a steal.

Colorado's Brendan Rodgers was 5-for-6 in an 8-7 loss to the Giants.

September 25th, 2019: The Pirates will not make the playoffs, but the Padres will. Pittsburgh is 73-78 and 27.5 games out of first. San Diego is 87-64, but trails the Dodgers by 4.5 games.

Game two took place between Lucas Sims (1-1, 9.00 ERA, 1.83 WHIP) and Eduardo Rodriguez (8-7, 5.34 ERA, 1.33 WHIP) as we looked to build on our half game lead in the Wild Card hunt. A four run 5th was clutch, and we won 6-4.

Sims went 6 innings with 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Jake Diekman, Blake Treinen, and Donnie Hart got holds while Zach Britton fot the save. Treinen allowed a hit and run in an inning of work.

Austin Hays went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, double, and 2 runs scored. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a run scored and steal. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and double. Jose Peraza was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Max Stassi was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Cardinals SP Luke Weaver tossed a 6-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over the Marlins.

September 26th, 2019: The Indians clinced the Central and the Brewers will make the postseason. Cleveland is 96-56 and has a 12 game lead over the Twins. The Crew are 86-66, and are two back of the Padres for the 2nd Wild Card.

We looked to finish the sweep with Reynaldo Lopez (14-6, 4.07 ERA, 1.19 WHIP) taking on Dallas Keuchel (11-9, 4.67 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). The offense came to play, and we crushed them 11-2 to finish the much needed sweep.

Lopez went 7 innings with 2 hits, a run, walk, and 9 strikeouts. Kevin Gausman tossed 2 innings with a hit, run scored, walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Anthony Alford was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI's. Brandon Lowe was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, and an RBI. Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-3 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a homer, and 2 doubles. Victor Reyes was 2-for-5 with a double. Jose Peraza was 2-for-5 with a run scored. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-5 with a two run homer. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI's. Chance Sisco was 1-for-5 with a solo homer.

Our last three home games of the year will be up next, against the Rays. We'll see Blake Snell (7-11, 4.29 ERA), Brent Honywell (11-4, 2.99 ERA), and Matt Andriese (11-2, 3.40 ERA).

September 27th-October 3rd

September 23rd, 2019: The Yankees will be without SP Sonny Gray for the postseason. He will undergo radial nerve decompression surgery.

We started our final home series of the year with Shelby Miller (12-7, 3.88 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) taking on Blake Snell (7-11, 4.29 ERA, 1.26 WHIP). It was a close one, but they edged us 3-1.

Miller went 7 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Josh Hader tossed 1.2 innings with a hit and 3 strikeouts.

Anthony Alford was 3-for-4 with a double and run scored. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with a double. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

September 28th, 2019: The Yankees officially clinched the AL East. At 92-61, they have a 6 game lead over us and will head to the playoffs for a third straight year.

The Marlins fired manager Don Mattingly. He was 59-95 this year, and has a career 716-732 record, although he never had a losing season with the Dodgers, his previous team.

Game two of three saw Miles Mikolas (11-8, 3.40 ERA, 1.27 WHIP) take on Brent Honeywell (11-4, 2.99 ERA, 1.12 WHIP). The score was the same, 3-1.

Yay...

Mikolas allowed 3 runs in 7 innings with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Zach Britton struck out the side in the 9th.

Brandon Lowe was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chance Sisco was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Andrelton Simmmons was 1-for-3 with a double. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a double.

September 29th, 2019: Three season ending injuries occured. Patrick Weigel tore his labrum. Yu Darvish has a hamstring strain. Trevor Gott ruptured his unlar collateral ligament. As you can tell, the severity vaires.

We needed to avoid the sweep with Aaron Sanchez (11-7, 2.71 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) taking on Jacob Faria (4-12, 4.85 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). Leave it to Sanchez to bring us back, and we topped them 5-1.

Sanchez tossed 7.1 beautiful innings with a hit, a walk, and 15 strikeouts! 15! Erasmo Ramirez tossed 1.2 innings with a hit, run, and strikeout.

Jose Peraza was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a homer, and a steal. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a double and walk. Brandon Lowe was 2-for-3 with an RBI and walk. Max Stassi was 2-for-4 with a steal and run scored. D.J. Stewart was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

I got the achievement "Un-hittable" for Sanchez's performance.

We're headed to New York for four with the Yankees. We'll face Hidetsugu Nakasone (13-7, 3.86 ERA), Doug Fister (0-4, 7.32 ERA), Mashiaro Tanaka (12-6, 4.49 ERA), and Chad Green (4-6, 4.04 ERA).

September 30th, 2019: Rays LF Jake Bauers broke his kneecap, and will miss the rest of the year. He hit .301 with 17 homers and 53 RBI's.

At 87-68, we have now moved up to 8th in the Power Rankings. We have a 2.5 game lead over the 2nd Wild Card.

We opened the four game set with Lucas Sims (2-1, 7.50 ERA, 1.56 WHIP) taking on Doug Fister (0-4, 7.32 ERA, 1.68 WHIP). The Yankees dominated Sims in his last start against them, so hopefully today will be different. It went down to the wire, and down 2-1 in the 9th, Trey Mancini hit an RBI single to tie up the game. In the 10th, Victor Reyes hit an RBI double off Giovanny Gallegos, and we won the opener 3-2.

Sims left with a tender elbow, and Chance Sisco a knee contusion. Sisco will be benched, and Sims placed on the DL.

Sims tossed 3.2 innings with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts before the injury. Kevin Gausman tossed 2.1 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and strikeout. Josh Hader got the win, 2 innings with 4 strikeouts. Zach Britton tossed a perfect 10th with a punch out to get the save.

Victor Reyes was 3-for-5 and a homer away from the cycle. He scored a run and drove in a run. Sisco was 2-for-2 with a double and hit by pitch. Brandon Lowe was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

October 1st, 2019: Max Scherzer will miss part of next year with bone chips in his elbow. He went 9-10 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.13 WHIP.

The Tigers 2B and former Marlin Ryan Mountcastle will be out for the year with a concussion. He hit .212 with 8 homers and 23 RBI's in his Rookie Year.

The Houston Astros clinched the AL West. At 91-65, they'd return to the postseason for the third straight year.

We looked to take another game with Reynaldo Lopez (15-6, 3.96 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) taking on Hidetsugu Nakasone (13-7, 3.86 ERA, 1.18 WHIP). We got four in the sixth, and won another game 6-5.

We're 1 away from 90!

Lopez went 7 innings with 8 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Josh Hader got a hold and Zach Britton a save.

Anthony Alford was 2-for-5 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a homer, and a steal. Jose Peraza was 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch and run scored. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Austin Hays was 1-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI.

Braves SS Dansby Swanson was 5-for-5 in an 11-5 win over the Mets.

October 2nd, 2019: Cardinals righty Matt Bowman may not pitch until 2021 as he undergos elbow ligament reconstruction surgery. He has a 2.94 ERA and struck out 54 in 67.1 innings.

The Dodgers clinched the NL West Today. At 96-62, they have a nice 5.5 game lead over the Padres.

We needed to keep rolling with Shelby Miller (12-8, 3.88 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) taking on Mashiaro Tanaka (12-6, 4.49 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). We got four in the third and won again, 4-1.

But Nolan Arenado got hurt...

Miller tossed 6 innings with 4 hits, a run scored, a walk, and 8 strikeouts. Jake Diekman and Blake Treinen both got holds and Joakim Soria got the save.

Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a walk and three run homer. Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-4 with a steal. Mac Stassi was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Arenado was 1-for-2 with a run scored and RBI. Victor Reyes was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.

October 3rd, 2019: We clinched! The Orioles will head to the post season! At 90-68, we will likely host the Wild Card Game!

The Rays and Mariners have been eliminated from postseason contention. Both are 82-76.

We looked to finish the sweep with Miles Mikolas (11-9, 3.42 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) taking on Chad Green (4-6, 4.04 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). We couldn't end it, dropping the finale 6-4.

Mikolas tossed 4 innings with 7 hits, 5 runs, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Erasmo Ramirez allowed a run in 2 innings with 2 hits and a strikeout.

Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-5. Austin Hays was 1-for-4 with a two run homer. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Erick Gonzalez was 1-for-3 with a double and hit by pitch. Anthony Alford was 1-for-4 with a double.

Nationals rookie Jefry Rodriguez tossed a 4-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over the Padres.

We're off to Boston to finish the year! We'd see David Price (9-6, 4.45 ERA), Rick Porcello (9-9, 4.91 ERA), and Eduardo Rodriguez (9-8, 5.34 ERA).

October 4th-October 7th

October 4th, 2019: Nolan Arenado was diganosed with shoulder tendinitis, and will be day-to-day for about 1-2 weeks. I'd bench him for the rest of the regular season, but would play him in the postseason.

The Yankees officially clinched the AL East. They have a 5 game lead over us.

I needed a backup catcher, so I transfered SS Gavin Cecchini to the 60-Day DL and purchased the contract of C Austin Wynns.

The last series of the season will take place in Boston with Aaron Sanchez (12-7, 2.62 ERA, 0.92 WHIP), our likely Wild Card game starter, taking on his former teammate David Price (9-6, 4.45 ERA, 1.35 WHIP). Wynns will make his major league debut, hitting 9th. It was a high scoring affair, and we won 9-6.

Sanchez tossed 6 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and 9 strikeouts. Jake Diekman, Blake Treinen, and Aaron Bummer earned holds. Ryan Meisinger allowed a hit, run, and struck out 2 in the 8th. Zack Britton allowed 3 hits, a run, a walk, and a strikeout in the 9th.

Every starter got a hit. Austin Hays was 3-for-5 with a double and 3 runs scored. Erick Gonzaelz was 2-for-4 with a two run homer and a solo homer. Anthony Alford was 2-for-5. Victor Reyes hit a pinch hit three run homer in the 8th. Trey Mancini was 1-for-5 with a solo shot. Jose Peraza was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Austin Wynns was 1-for-4 with a double in his debut.

Mets SS Amed Rosario was 5-for-5 in 6-3 win over the Phillies. A's 1B Matt Olson hit three homers in a 13-5 win over the Rangers.

October 5th, 2019: Mike Leake partially tore his UCL in his last start ofo the season, and will miss part of next year. He had a rough year, 7-12 with a 6.07 ERA in 31 starts.

The Red Sox have nothing to play for, as they've been eliminated from the postseason. At 85-75, they are 3 games behind Minnesota for the 2nd Wild Card.

Kevin Gausman (9-8, 5.40 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) got today's start against Rick Porcello (9-9, 4.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). It was another high scoring game, and the Red Sox walked off with a Sam Travis single after 11 innings to even the series with an 8-7 win.

Bryan Shaw left with forearm stiffness, but he should be ready for the Wild Card Game.

Wild Card and Divisional Series

October 8th, 2019: This is it! The AL Wild Card game! We hosted the Twins, as Lucas Sims (2-1, 6.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP) (I miscounted on Sanchez...) took on Michael Pineda (1-0, 4.34 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). Now don't forget Sims' numbers are extremely inflated from one bad start, and he's developed more since then. Honestly, it really didn't matter who pitched, and we crushed the Twins 15-2 to advance to the ALDS.

Sims went 5 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 3 stirkoeuts. Shelby Miller tossed 4 innings and earned the save. He allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9.

Victor Reyes was 4-for-5 with 4 runs, 3 RBI's, a walk, and 2 doubles. Anthony Alford was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's. Chance Sisco was 2-for-5 with a homer and 5 RBI's. Trey Mancini was 1-for-5 with a 2 run double. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-4 with a walk and 3 runs scored. Brandon Lowe was 1-for-3 with 3 runs, 2 walks, and a 2 RBI.

October 9th, 2019: The Padres hosted the Brewers in the NL Wild Card Game. It was a much closer game, and the Padres edged the Crew 3-2. Dinelson Lamet tossed 5 innings with 4 hits and 7 strikeouts, while Manny Margot was 3-for-4 with a run scored. Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson tossed 6 innings with 6 hits, 3 runs, and 6 strikeouts.

October 10th, 2019: We got our work cut out for us, as we're in Cleveland for a five game series with the 104-58 AL Central champions. The opener took place between Cy Young hopefuls Aaron Sanchez (13-7, 2.71 ERA, 0.93 WHIP) and Carlos Carrasco (12-5, 3.65 ERA, 1.16 WHIP). Sanchez was the superior pitcher, and we won the opener 6-1.

Sanchez was brilliant, 7.1 innings with 4 hits, an unearned run, and 10 strikeouts. Joakim Soria tossed an inning with a walk, hit, and 2 strikeouts.

Trey Mancini was 3-for-5 with a homer, double, and 3 RBI's. Anthony Alford was 3-for-5 with 2 doubles, a run scored, and RBI. Victor Reyes was 3-for-5 with 2 runs and a steal. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a run scored and two driven in.

In the other ALDS matchup, the Astros beat the host Yankees 6-4 in 10 innings. Yulieski Gurriel was 3-for-5 with a double, homer, and 4 RBI's.

October 11th, 2019: We had the opportunity to take a commanding 2-0 lead with Reynaldo Lopez (17-6, 4.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) taking on Corey Kluber (18-5, 3.04 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). Klubot was unhittable, and they shut us out 2-0 to even up the series.

Lopez allowed 3 hits and 2 runs in 5 innings with a walk and 6 strikeouts. The pen combined for 3 innings with 2 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-4. Nolan Arenado was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-3.

The Yankees also evened the series with a 4-3 win. Jose Abreu hit a walkoff double off Riley Ferrell.

The NLDS started today, with the Cubs beating the Padres 4-1. Jose Quintana tossed 7 quality innings with 6 hits, a run, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. The Dodgers edged the Mets 3-2. Alex Wood tossed 6.1 innings with 4 hits, a run, and a strikeout.

October 12th, 2019: Both the Cubs and Dodgers took 2-0 leads. The Cubs beat the Padres 4-3. In the losing efford, Wil Myers was 3-for-5 with a double, homer, and 2 RBI's, while Brock Stewart tossed 5 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. The Dodgers topped the Mets 4-3. Julio Urias tossed 7 innings with 3 hits, a run, and 4 strikeouts.

October 13th, 2019: Now home, we looked to retake the series lead with Lucas Sims (2-1, 6.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP; 1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on Trevor Bauer (16-9, 4.34 ERA, 1.27 WHIP). Tied at two in the 9th, Nolan Arenado hit a walk-off double off Nick Goody, and with a 3-2 win we were one game away from the ALCS!

Sims tossed 5 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Blake Trienen tossed 2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts. Zach Britton tossed 1.1 innings with a walk and strikeout. Josh Hader got the win and struck out the final two hitters.

Nolan Arenado was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a walk, double, and run scored. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-4 with a double. Brandon Lowe was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.

The Astros took a 2-1 lead, winning 6-2 at home. Gurriel was 3-for-5 with a three run homer in the 4th inning.

October 14th, 2019: We looked to clinch with Miles Mikolas (11-10, 3.58 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) taking on Danny Salazar (5-10, 6.92 ERA, 1.87 WHIP) as we looked to win at home. We took a quick 6-0 lead after three in both the first and second. Despite allowing 4 in the 6th, we eventually held on to a 6-5 win, and will head to the ALCS!

Mikolas tossed 5.2 innings with 4 hits, 5 runs, a walk, and 7 strikeouts. Soria got a hold, 1.1 innings with a strikeout. Britton got the save, 2 innings with a walk and strikeout.

Brandon Lowe was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 3 RBI's, a walk, and homer. Nolan Arenado was 3-for-4 with a double. Andrelton Simmons was 2-for-4. Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 with a three run homer. Anthony Alford was 1-for-5 with a run scored.

Our opponent would be the Astros, who beat the Yankees in 11 off a walk-off Jose Altuve homer. Yankees starter Doug Fister tossed 6 innings with 3 hits, a run, a walk, and 3 strikeouts.

The Dodgers swept the Mets, winning 7-3 to face the winner of the Cubs-Padres series.

A game away from elimination, the Padres won 9-3 at home with help from an 8 run 2nd. Austin Hedges was 3-for-3 with a walk and 3 RBI's.

Octoebr 15th, 2019: In a crazy 19 inning affair, the Cubs topped the Padres 10-8. The Cubs got 4 in the 19th, and the Padres got 2 as the Cubs advance to the NLCS. Anthony Rizzo was 4-for-6 with a double, homer, 3 RBI's, 2 runs, and 2 walks. Padres starter Adrian Morejon went 5.1 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 10 strikeouts. Jose Pirela was 5-for-9 with a homer and 3 RBI's in a losing effort.

Off to Houston to start the ALCS on the 18th! All four of the Astros starters have ERA's above 4.50 (4.56, 4.77, 5.92, 5.09) so this should be a good series for our high powered offense.

Championship Series

October 18th, 2019: I actiavted Carlos ROdon from the DL, but it wasn't worth placing him on the playoff roster.

Alex Cobb suffered a setback, and will miss another 3 months.

We started the ALCS in Houston with Aaron Sanchez (13-7, 2.71 ERA, 0.93 WHIP; 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.55 WHIP) taking on Lance McCullers Jr. (8-10, 4.56 ERA, 1.39 WHIP; 0-0, 6.00 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). We only scored in three innings, but boy was it enough! We clobbered the Astros 16-1 to start the ALCS with a bang!

Sanchez was solid, 7 innings with 4 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Shelby Miller tossed 2 innings with just 1 hit to finish the game.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-5 with a walk and two grand slams! Two! Andrelton Simmons was 4-for-5 wiht a homer, 3 runs, and 2 RBI's. Nolan Arenado was 3-for-6 with a double and 2 RBI's. We didn't score today, and the Astros shut us out 4-0 to bring the season to Baltimore.

Lopez tossed 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts. Blake Treinen tossed an inning with 2 hits and a run. Joakim Soria tossed an inning with a hit, run, walk, and strikeout.

Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-3 with a steal. Chance Sisco was 1-for-3. Mancini and Brandon Lowe were btoh 1-for-4.

The NLCS started today in Chicago, and the Dodgers really blew it. Up 8-3 in the 8th, the Cubs got 1 to make it 8-4, before scoring 4 in the 9th to force extras. In the 10th, Addison Russell hit a walk-off solo homer off Nick Burdi to complete an impressive comeback. Anthony Rizzo was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, walk, 2 runs, and 3 RBI's. Corey Seager was 4-for-5 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBI's.

October 20th, 2019: The Cubs rode yesterdays momentum, and took a 2-0 lead with a 6-1 win. Kyle Hendricks got the win, 6 innings with 2 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Anthony Rizzo was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Julio Urias got the no decision, 5 innings with a hit, 3 walks, and 8 strikeouts.

October 21st, 2019: We're back home, and look to take the series lead back with Lucas Sims (2-1, 6.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP; 1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) taking on the youngster Francis Martes (12-9, 5.92 ERA, 1.60 WHIP; 1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). We got six quick runs in the first, and won the Baltimore opener 12-2.

Sims went 8+ with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 3 strikeouts. Zach Britton finished the 9th, 2 hits, a run, and a strikeout.

October 23rd, 2019: The superstar himself Aaron Sanchez (13-7, 2.71 ERA, 0.93 WHIP; 2-0, 0.63 ERA, 0.77 WHIP) looked to send us to the World Series, while Lance McCullers Jr. (8-10, 4.56 ERA, 1.39 WHIP; 0-1, 7.20 ERA, 1.40 WHIP) looked to send it to Houston. It took 10 innings, but a Kyle Tucker solo shot off Josh Hader gave the Astros a 5-4 win as they avoided elimination.

The Dodgers tied the series up at 2. They were down 2-0 in the 8th, and then cut the deficit to 1. In the 9th, Chris Taylor hit a walk-off two run homer off Dillon Maples, who was charged with all three runs. Chicago's starter Tyler Chatwood tossed a good game, 6 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts.

October 24th, 2019: With no AL game, the NL had all the spotlight. With the series heading back to Chicago after today, the Cubs would head home with a 3-2 lead after winning 6-2. Jose Quintana got the win, 6.2 innings with 4 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 8 strikeouts. Kris Bryant was 2-for-5 with a homer and 4 RBI's. Ian Happ was 3-for-5 with a double and 2 runs scored.

October 25th, 2019: Will we be World Series bound? Reynaldo Lopez (17-6, 4.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP; 0-2, 3.27 ERA, 0.82 WHIP) took on Gerrit Cole (14-11, 4.77 ERA, 1.34 WHIP; 1-0, 2.25 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) as we looked to make today the last game played at Minute Maid Park in 2019. We got three insurance runs in the 9th, and will head to the World Series after winning game six 6-2!

Andrelton Simmons left with an elbow contusion and will be day-to-day for 1-2 weeks, but he's playing through it.

Kyle Hendricks tossed 6.1 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, and 4 strikeouts. Juilo Urias tossed 5 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 4 strukeouts. Both got no decisions. Brian Dozier was 1-for-3 with a solo homer and walk in the win.

October 27th, 2019: We'd find out who are opponent would be, and the hometown Cubs decided they wanted it more, shutting out the Dodgers 4-0 to punch their tickets to the World Series. Jon Lester tossed 7 shutout with 2 hits, 5 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Kyle Scwarber was 2-for-4 with a two run homer and Anthony Rizzo was 2-for-4 with a solo shot.

World Series

October 29th, 2019: Here it is: the World Series! Aaron Sanchez (13-7, 2.71 ERA, 0.93 WHIP; 2-0, 2.18 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) will face his NL counterpart Jose Quintana (22-6, 2.36 ERA, 1.03 WHIP; 2-0, 4.32 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) in the opener. Runs will liekly be hard to come by in this one. Or at least they were for one team, and we started out with a bang, winning the opener 7-1.

Sanchez tossed 6.1 innings with 5 hits, a run, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts. The pen tossed 2.2 innings with 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Lewis Brinson was 3-for-4 with a homer, sac-fly, 2 runs, and 3 RBI's. Anthony Alford was 2-for-4 with a double, homer, run scored, and two RBI's. Brandon Lowe was 1-for-4 with a run scored and double. Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Andrelton Simmons was 1-for-4 with a run scored and double.

October 30th, 2019: Game two saw Reynaldo Lopez (17-6, 4.11 ERA, 1.18 WHIP; 1-2, 2.65 ERA, 1.12 WHIP) take on Tyler Chatwood (11-5, 3.83 ERA, 1.28 WHIP; 0-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.80 WHIP). It was a beautiful game and we shut the host cubs out 9-0. We're headed home up 2-0!

Lopez tossed 7 innings with 6 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Joakim Soria and Shelby Miller both got an inning. The former struck out 1, the latter walked 2, allowed a hit, and struck out 1.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-5 with a RBI double and a grand slam. Yes, another grand salami for Mancini! Andrelton Simmons was 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. And he's supposed to be hurt. Victor Reyes was 2-for-3 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and a homer. Brandon Lowe was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Lewis Brinson was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chance Sisco was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

October 31st, 2019: Man I wish we had a game...

November 1st, 2019: Camden Yards is the sight for a historical game three, as Lucas Sims (2-1, 6.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP; 2-0, 2.50 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) and the Orioles look to take a 3-0 lead against Kyle Hendricks (15-9, 3.57 ERA, 1.19; 1-0, 3.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) and the NL Champion Cubs. One. More. Game. We kept the Cubs in check, and won the home opener 6-3.

Sims went 6 innings with 3 hits, 3 runs, and 8 strikeouts. Aaron Bummer, Jake Diekman, and Zach Britton got holds while Josh Hader got the save. He struck out the last two batters of the game.

Trey Mancini was 2-for-3 with a walk and two, two-run homers. He's now hit 8 and driven in 26. Brandon Lowe was 2-for-2 with a walk, run scored, and sac-fly. Chance Sisco was 2-for-4 with an RBI. David Peralta was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and a walk.

November 2nd, 2019: Could we finish the sweep? Miles Mikolas (11-10, 3.58 ERA, 1.29 WHIP; 2-0, 5.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) would take on Jon Lester (13-9, 3.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP; 1-2, 5.17 ERA, 1.28 WHIP) in what could be the last game of 2019! Would the home fans leave the stadium with champions? As anti-climatic as it may have been, I'll take the 9-1 win. How "sweep" it is!

Mikolas tossed 6 innings with 5 hits, a run, a walk, and 8 strikeouts. Joakim Soria went 3 innings to get the save, getting 2 hits, a walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Trey Mancini, who has to be the postseason MVP (reminicent of Seth Beer), was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and three run homer. Anthony lford was 2-for-3 with a run and walk. Lewis Brinson was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, and RBI. Brandon Lowe was 1-for-3 with a run scored, sac-fly, and 2 RBI's. Jonathan Schoop was 1-for-3 with a sac-bunt and steal.

I earned the achievement "Doing it With Style" for the sweep.

So it takes me 2 years with Baltimore and a lot more then 2 with the Marlins...

The sense of urgency makes it happen I guess.

Anyways, that closes the book on this one, at least for now. I've been tinkering with a few future ideas, perhaps when the Marlins GM grows too old in game, testing out some leverage bullpen ideas with a brand new expansion team. I've read a lot of interesting books and articles, incluidng a dynasty repot on this, that touch on new ideas on how to manage a pitching staff, and I'd love to try them out in Out of the Park.

But for now, the Marlins will be my only focus.
