Arizona World Series Champs (play by play)

For the first time, I played every single game in play by play mode. All 162, plus playoffs. They went 94-68 capturing the wild card (Dodgers won 111 games). I beat the Pirates in the wild card game, took out the Dodgers in 5, Nationals in 6, and swept Tampa in the World Series!

Some notes from the season: I think the biggest factor was the hitting...by far. 918 runs scored, 3 guys with over 110 RBI's, led by Paul Goldschmidt. He went .331 46 HR 126 RBI and even led the team with 26 steals. Jake Lamb had 43 HR and 119 RBI, which was a bit of a surprise. J.D. Martinez was an asset with .299 33 HR 113 in only 120 games (injuries). A.J. Pollock was 2nd in hitting at .340 with 215 hits. The top of the lineup was deadly!

Most used lineup:

CF A.J.Pollock .340 21-80
3B Jake Lamb .271 43-119
1B Paul Goldschmidt .331 46-126
LF J.D. Martinez .299 33-113
RF David Peralta .321 22-96
SS Chris Owings .274 18-85
C Chris Herrmann .258 15-54
2B Brandon Phillips .267 5-46

Pitching was a different story. 25 pitchers used, 10 different starters, 3 different closers...it was bad. Archie Bradley led the team with 15 saves, but was a disaster from June on. Fernando Rodney was sooo good...until he started closing. He got 11 but blew 3 in a week and was out. Picked up Sean Doolittle and he went the rest of the way, but boy oh boy was he susceptible to the longball (10 in 30.2 innings!!!)

Only Robbie Ray pitched more than 150 innings. He went 18-7 and had a pretty good year. Picked up Jose Quintana and he saved the rotation mid-year. 6-2 2.21 ERA and was good in the playoffs.

Only Taijuan Walker had 10 wins or more after Ray, but no one had 10 or more losses. Andrew Chafin was a workhorse....76 games pitched. Zach Godley almost had a no-no and was 7-3.

Pitching:
Robbie Ray 18-7 4.18
Taijuan Walker 10-7 4.29
Shelby Miller 8-5 3.79
Jorge DeLaRosa 5-5 4.63
Zach Godley 7-3 3.85
Zach Greinke 4-4 3.89
Jose Quntana 6-2 2.21
Archie Bradley 5-2 15 SV 4.12
Fernando Rodney 2-3 11 SV 3.79
Sean Doolittle 0-3 15 SV 4.70
Perci Garner 2-2 1.90 in late season work.

Couple of oddities: Randell Delgado was a good middle reliever pitching in 54 games. Very respectable. There was an expansion draft after the season and was picked up by one of the teams. They made him the ace of the staff. Daniel Descalso also played all 9 positions in the final game. That was kinda fun and something I've never done before!

Pretty proud of the season!!
