After having to stop for a couple months after getting burned out, I just finished up a new season to post - 1981 is now available in the folder. I'd been wanting to get that one for quite a while, it's a good candidate for a single season replay because of the strike that knocked out about one-third of the regular season and messed up the playoffs that year.
I have also re-posted 1948 with a tiny correction - I had a redundant second image of Ray Coleman on the Browns in the partial season players folder, but no pictures of him on the Athletics, so I added it. I'll post that image here so you don't need to re-download 1948 all over again if you have it. Thanks to cheech411 for spotting the error. |

New season available in the folder - 1973. This was just an interesting one to do because a lot of guys were dramatically changing their appearance around this time as the restrictions on mustaches and long hair were lifted around baseball during '72-'73.
An updated 1972 has also just been posted in the folder; 32 players had photos replaced in the musical chairs that ensued as I got better pictures in the course of working on '73. I will probably be going back to '50s-'60s seasons next. |

1956 and 1957 have just been added - that makes for a complete run of 1947 through '58. 1954 and '55 were updated as well.

Big update just posted. New seasons - 1959, 1960 and 1965, so now there's a complete run from 1947-'65.
All the other seasons in that run (1947-'58 and 1961-'64) have also been updated, some very heavily like 1958 and others very slightly. '58 was the first season I ever tried to do back around 2008 when online photo resources were thinner and I had less photo editing experience, so that one needed almost a total overhaul. There are a couple of tweaks in the team logo folders, namely that appearing in the 1952-'57 packs is a new Dodgers logo that's kind of a hybrid of the logo as it appeared on the 1953 Topps cards and their actual 1952-'57 logo which has a height/width ratio that doesn't work that well in OOTP. Also added a nicknames list to the career interruptions file. OOTP 11 removed them so here they are if anyone wants to add them back. I tried to make them timeline-accurate so Willie Stargell's nickname of "Pops" won't appear on lists until later in his career, Dick Stuart isn't "Dr. Strangeglove" until after the Kubrick movie comes out, and so on. |

First, the extra effort required due to lack of many color images for seasons prior to the 1950s, and the increasing lack of good images in general the further back in time you go. I think there's a certain "tipping point" where the effort of making photopacks isn't worth it because it makes more sense to just use facegen instead. I'm not sure which year that point is, though. Second, the question of what to do with Negro League players. I could just keep on dealing with purely historical MLB rosters and not include any Negro League players at all, but I know there will be a vague sense of dissatisfaction upon going to all that effort to complete a set and knowing it's still not exactly.... complete. I could include a separate folder with images of the Negro League's top players, but they still wouldn't be wearing the caps of major league teams, so would anyone really find that very useful? Facegen, of course, could very easily generate images of these players in the uniform of whatever team you wanted to put them on, meaning perhaps 1946 is a candidate for that aforementioned tipping point. So this is all why I'm indecisive on what to do about the pre-1947 seasons. Last edited by Ceej; 07-27-2013 at 04:55 AM. |

Major update just posted - again, available here.
Six new seasons: 1966, '67, '68, '74, '75, and '76. Every existing season from 1947-'49, '52-'53 and '55 through '77 was updated - generally the earlier ones only very slightly, the later ones more heavily. 1977 was very heavily overhauled with over 500 images redone - it was one of the very first seasons I ever did and I had cropped the pictures way too tightly, something I only realized through experience. A few more stray points: - I knew the Angels changed their name from the Los Angeles Angels to the California Angels in 1965. What I didn't know before coming across it in research is how late in the season that happened (September 2)! Therefore it would make more sense to have them wearing the "LA" caps. They definitely at least began the season wearing the old caps - I could not find any evidence one way or another whether the team played the last month of the season wearing brand new "CA" caps or not. Anyway, I decided to just provide both options. In the "default" players folder they're all wearing the "LA" caps, but a "bonus" california angels folder with the "CA" caps is also included. What, even Ron Piche, Gino Cimoli, Phil Roof and Don Lee, who were gone by September? Sure, why not, in some replays the Angels might keep them all year. - Getting those late '60s seasons done helped trace the evolution of sideburns in baseball. Sam McDowell was the first player noted to grow them long around 1965-'66, as a Sports Illustrated cover from May 1966 shows pretty well. Larry Sherry and Ron Perranoski had fairly long ones in 1967. Then in 1968 several more players grew them out, Tim McCarver being probably the most notable of them (compare photos and film of him from the '67 and '68 World Series and the difference is very apparent). 1969 is probably the first season where long sideburns were a standard sight in the majors. So if you ever wanted to know about this for the purpose of historical facegen settings, there you go. - The list of completed season sets now stands as 1947-'77, '81-'86, '92-'93 and '98. |

I guess while this is bumped I'll just mention that 1978-'80 will be out by the end of the year. I hope - the 1980 Topps set isn't easy to work with due to the prominently placed autographs and borders swooping in over the photos.

End-of-year update:
- New additions - 1978, 1979, and 1980. - 1952, '55-71, '73-'77, and '81-'86 have all been revised (mostly slightly). 1950 and 1972 were re-uploaded but they actually weren't updated, those two can be ignored. A complete run of 1947-'86 now completed Trivia: unique practice jerseys seem to have become a thing around 1979 or so. Last edited by Ceej; 12-21-2013 at 07:42 PM. |
