Just wondering if there is a version of the database available where I could start a year with a "real life" starting roster from a given year, let's say 1994, with their actual minor league system in tact - for exm. in 1994 I would love to start with the Yankees roster from that year WITH Petitte, Jeter, Posada, Rivera in my minor league system yet still have the real life roster from that year, not the players that are "most associated with that team".
Frankly starting with the lahman database sucks for trying to recreate any kind of developmental historical career...I do, however, understand that's not the intention of your db Spritze Unfortunately my db skills are pretty minimal AND I do appreciate your work on these database - they are certainly a better playing experience that the standard lahman import. |

which stats will the game use?
okay so in the stats folder there are both the csv files and the odb database, does one override the other?
If I change say Josh Gibson's stats in the csv file but don't touch anything on the database file will it use the stats I changed or will it still use the odb info? hope that makes sense. thanks |

If there is an .odb file in the directory. It will always use the .odb information over the .csv information.

Yes you probably can because every player who played in the majors between the years 1943-1974 have their full minor league records included, so your minors should be pretty full, you'll have up to 2,512 available real players for the year 1949 to fill your minors with. That is way more than you get with the generic Lahman db.

The site has been updated with the final 3 High School DB's. These have the same data but the player is in whatever "REAL" organization he started the year you begin your league with. Keep in mind that the first 80 or so years had a great many Independant teams. Those players will be on your free agent list, available to any team.
The last db set is the "college" db which is exactly the same as the high school db's except players debut in their first pro year, which means to create these db's I just need to delete a lot of yearly stat lines. I am shooting for getting those done today. |

The db's on the secret site have ALL the files you need so you can just replace the entire stats folder if you like. Backups are a must of course. PadresFan site may have the full set in a day or two. PM me if you would like the secret site address. Once all the db's are hosted at PadresFans site the secret site will be taken down. It is just used to get the db's out so they can be tested testicularly.

The RealTeam/RealDebut DB's are uploading to the site even as I write this missive. To make the Real Debut version I left all the stat CSV's as is and just changed the debut date in the master. OOTP should ignore the extra yearly stat lines, let me know if it doesn't as I won't have time to check it myself until late next week. It oughta work!?

Hey Spritze, noticed some of the team ID's are not matching up when importing from the "Real Teams, HS debut - No Asians"...here is a quick example:
Danny Tarabull 1994 import year dumps into the Free Agent pull, OOTP is not recognizing "NY","AL" as the team ID for the Yankees in 1994 it's looking for NYA, at least I think LOL... "tartada01",1981.00,1,"CIN","NL",100.00,100.00,357 ,30,53,12,1,10,36,2,4,30,176,2,1,0,3,15,100.00 "tartada01",1982.00,1,"CIN","NL",100.00,100.00,357 ,33,60,13,1,12,41,2,3,34,156,2,1,0,3,13,100.00 "tartada01",1983.00,1,"SEA","AL",100.00,100.00,357 ,39,71,15,1,14,48,2,3,40,133,2,1,0,3,11,100.00 "tartada01",1984.00,1,"SEA","AL",112.00,112.00,380 ,57,104,21,2,20,73,2,2,58,101,4,3,0,5,8,112.00 "tartada01",1985.00,1,"SEA","AL",97.00,97.00,339,5 0,96,23,3,15,59,3,2,50,90,2,0,0,2,7,97.00 "tartada01",1986.00,1,"SEA","AL",137.00,137.00,511 ,76,138,25,6,25,96,4,8,61,157,2,1,2,3,10,137.00 "tartada01",1987.00,1,"KCA","AL",154.00,154.00,567 ,93,175,26,3,33,98,9,4,77,133,2,1,0,5,14,154.00 "tartada01",1988.00,1,"KCA","AL",146.00,146.00,507 ,80,139,38,3,26,102,8,5,76,119,4,4,0,6,10,146.00 "tartada01",1989.00,1,"KCA","AL",133.00,133.00,441 ,54,118,22,0,18,62,4,2,69,123,2,3,0,2,12,133.00 "tartada01",1990.00,1,"KCA","AL",88.00,88.00,313,4 1,84,19,0,15,60,1,1,36,93,0,0,0,3,9,88.00 "tartada01",1991.00,1,"KCA","AL",132.00,132.00,484 ,78,153,35,3,31,100,6,3,65,121,6,3,0,5,9,132.00 "tartada01",1992.00,1,"NY","AL",123.00,123.00,421, 72,112,19,0,25,85,2,2,103,115,14,0,0,2,7,123.00 "tartada01",1993.00,1,"NY","AL",138.00,138.00,513, 87,128,33,2,31,102,0,0,92,156,9,2,0,4,8,138.00 "tartada01",1994.00,1,"NY","AL",104.00,104.00,399, 68,102,24,1,19,67,1,1,66,111,3,1,0,4,11,104.00 "tartada01",1995.00,1,"NY","AL",83.00,83.00,280,34 ,66,16,0,8,35,0,2,43,82,1,1,0,4,9,83.00 Looking at the load pretty much the whole Yankees, White Sox, Cubs, and a few other teams aren't importing - they are just going right into the FA pool. I guess it's the same case, team ID is not what OOTP expects... |

Fixed.
That Lahman fella likes to change table structure and Team/League Abbrev on a nearly yearly basis. He may think it is a form of copy protection. I think it is a P.I.T.A. Anyway that has been handled, I'll generate an update after people get a chance to find more challenges. |

sorry what is the difference between the regular highschool database and the real team highschool one?
If I loaded a season in 1920 what would be the difference? is there any difference if starting in the beginning (1871 or whatever)? |

Start in 1871 and zero difference. Players go where they get drafted.
If you start in 1918 the players already in the league will start on the team they were actually on in 1918 (the Real Team version). Example: Ruth is on the Red Sox The players in the regular one would be on the team they are most associated with. Example: Ruth is a Yankee. Last edited by Spritze; 05-09-2010 at 04:12 PM. |

Player name small issue
When I was fiddling with the DB in a new historical league game in 1881, I think. Out of all the players in the draft, three had funky or incorrect names. One was (I think) Bill bh Hickory... that was how it was written. One player didn't have a name, but had a nickname as his name. A third had the same problem as Bill Hickory. Everybody else looked good.
I just noticed this and wanted to report it. No doubt it's not easy to get the game to read everything correctly coming out of large database. And it's easy to fix in game. |
