I hate all the stupid nicknames given to the dudes in the amateur draft.

You certainly don't have to post there, but we've been using this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...your-name.html

Yep. Nicknames suck. Thankfully, there aren't TOO many created every year, so it's fairly simple to find everyone who has one and edit them out.

Correction; game-generated nicknames suck. You can always make your own.

Good question. Possibly at a young age. A hypochondriac apparently. I suppose the name could then go to a young man.

If I remember my reading of Appling right, he got in the latter stages of his career. He had a tendency to complain about his ailments in the clubhouse to anyone who would listen, though they rarely caused him to sit out.

I do have an overacheiving SP on a team at the moment named Hogan. I call him "The Colonel". (Note: And I also have a 29-year old rookie pitcher bouncing between AAA and the team whose last name is Morgan AKA "The Captain".)

I had Harry Morgan on my team last year. I would have changed his FG to the one I have of Harry Morgan but he had already been in the league for 6 seasons and is AA.

Well mine is a John. But given his lack of control I wonder if he doesnt partake of the stuff named after Cpt. Morgan. (probably the big reason he is a 29 year old still rookie). He hasnt been too awful bad in a limited use (3 starts, 4-5 relief appearances). But, obviously in his non-starts I have used him in long-relief or low-leverage situations. (though my bullpen is crap, and I am going to sever ties one way or another in the offseason with 3 of the most used guys (I didnt take over until late July of the current year, took the middling team to within 2 games of the division leader, but we choked against the leaders in our last series of the season against them. We stand 3 1/2 back and we only have 6 games left to play (they have 7 ) So, Morgan might actually get a chance to prove himself more extensively next year (whether I like it or not)

As far as Hogan is concerned I have no idea why he is so good. Slightly below average stuff, slightly above average movement, average control, and his endurance isnt much above the threshold I have for starters. But, his ERA is in the low-3s. And is pretty much the #3 SP. Maybe every batter is named Klink or Shultz.
