Catcher with 15 speed legging out that triple. Got to love that.

If I were him, I'd retire.

Someday this game will have the capability of capturing and preserving such moments/events. Yes, I know that it has the "Accomplishments" section of career records (which, of course, is a great feature), but here's the difference: Currently, the game will record a cycle hit by Carlos Gutierrez in April 2023 but not the fact that it is the first and only time someone in your league has done it in his MLB debut. It's those kind of baseball tidbits that really would enhance the immersion that this game already provides in abundance.

If the two fatter Molina's can do it (one of them more than once), anybody can.

I had a 28 year old rookie in his first start (couple of PH appearances beforehand) who was a single short of a cycle recently. He did draw a couple walks in his 2 other PAs. He drew the walks in his first and 3rd PAs. With his triple being his first ML hit.

His next 11 hits were all singles.

That's not your normal cycle either; he also had a walk! That's only been done 44 times in MLB history, and just once by a catcher. Hell of a debut.

I once had a guy hit a grand slam in his first at bat, which has only been done by 4 players in real life.

I sent him back down to AAA a few days later (he was just an injury replacement call-up).

Cycle in MLB debut

Amazing debut. Looks like quite the catcher prospect as well. Those hitting numbers are pretty sweet for a backstop.

You're not kidding. Good-hitting catchers are scarcer than hen's teeth in this game.

Ya, he has forced his way into my everyday lineup. Here's an update after his first big league month...(He had an 0-27 streak at one point...so pretty darn good numbers considering)

With the advent of Achievements in OOTP14, in which the game tracks both the first and all subsequent times an event occurs, hopefully the groundwork has been laid to track league-level first-time occurrences.
