1944 Hall of Fame

Name: BentleyCancienneHOF.PNG
Views: 190
Size: 272.3 KB
Bentley Cancienne, C

It doesn't take much to be a Hall of Fame catcher. Cancienne's career ended with very similar stats to Josh Fowler's. He was drafted in the 2nd round by the Red Sox but was traded to the Marlins and then to the Rangers where he made two all-star teams and won three silver sluggers. He made a third all-star team as a member of the Angels.

Career Stats: 6075 PA, 1470 H, .345 wOBA, 109 wRC+, -1.4 ZR, 35.2 WAR, 29.7 JAWS

Michael Sorensen, RHP

Sorenson was on the Dodgers recent three World Series teams and made an all-star appearance in 1934. He was drafted out of New Mexico State University in the 2nd round in 1928 and had a good long run as a #2/3 starter in the Dodgers rotation for over a decade.

Career Stats: 3011 IP, 894 BB, 1095 K, 3.66 FIP, 95 FIP-, 46.7 WAR, 46.3 JAWS

Tony Willson, RHP

Willson had a great peak where he won two pitcher of the year awards but didn't start in the majors until he was 24 and fell off sharply in his 30s. He also made four all-star appearances. Not bad for a pitcher drafted in the 3rd round out of Missouri.

Career Stats: 2861.7 IP, 1007 BB, 1144 K, 3.58 FIP, 95 FIP-, 45.1 WAR, 44.6 JAWS

Lloyd Hu, LHP

Hu was drafted in the 3rd round as well. He won a gold glove and appeared in 6 all-star games over the course of his long career, where he accumulated over 50 WAR almost exclusively with the Reds. He led the league in strikeouts for 7 straight years and for 8 out of 9 in the 1930s.

Career Stats: 3331.7 IP, 1721 BB, 1959 K, 3.81 FIP, 96 FIP-, 51.1 WAR, 40.6 JAWS

1945 Hall of Fame

Name: JoMagallanesHOF.PNG
Views: 216

Jo Magallanes, CF

Magallanes signed out of the Dominican Republic as a 16-year-old in 1923 and was immediately a highly ranked prospect. He went to 6 all-star games, won four silver sluggers , two world series, and was the 1936 NL League Championship MVP. He retires in perhaps the second or third tier of CF to play the game around Phoenix Amoss and John Button.

Career Stats: 10023 PA, 2476 H, 207 HR, 152 SB, .351 wOBA, 115 wRC+, 94.5 ZR, 53.5 WAR, 45.1 JAWS

Name: GavinCoffeyHOF.PNG
Views: 225
Size: 274.1 KB
Gavin Coffey, LF

Coffey was possibly the second best LF in baseball history behind Nate Clements. He finishes third in career homeruns for all batters behind Arnold White and Jeremy Burke - a heavy hitting 3B with no defense. Coffey was drafted 3rd overall in 1927 out of Oklahoma and played with the White Sox for 7 seasons before signing with the Brewers for six and then the Tiger, DRays, Dbacks, Yankees, and Padres. He won an MVP award, went to six all-star games, won six silver sluggers. He was also an NL Division Series MVP.

Career Stats: 8966 PA, 2477 H, 234 HR, .386 wOBA, 138 wRC+, -67.8 ZR, 48.7 WAR, 40.8 JAWS

Cristopher Guzman, RHP

Guzman was drafted in the 3rd round by the Yankees out of the WIAA league and was eventually traded to the Expos where he spent 15 seasons, went to four all-star games, and won two World Series. He falls into the HOF borderline category with many good and solid pitchers.

Career Stats: 2957.7 IP, 881 BB, 1073 K, 3.50 FIP, 91 FIP-, 52.4 WAR, 51.4 JAWS

Cristian Bell, CF

Bell had an amazing career, winning Rookie of the Year, a gold glove, five all-star selections, two silver sluggers, and two playoff MVP awards, but it was over before his mid 30's. He was drafted 28th overall by the Indians out of Georgia.

Career Stats: 6881 PA, 2010 H, 197 SB, .340 wOBA, 108 wRC+, 82.9 ZR, 40.8 WAR, 36.6 JAWS

Benjamin Medina, RHP

Medina went to USC and was drafted 18th overall in 1929. He spent a few years with the Padres before getting traded to the Expos where he won a World Series and went to an all-star game. He is one of the top few players ever to come out of Cuba, along with Leo Mendoza, Brandon Peres, Adrian Morales, and Ramon Jiron.

Career Stats: 2959.7 IP, 873 BB, 880 K, 3.56 FIP, 96 FIP-, 46.4 WAR, 46.4 JAWS
