New

I am completely new to pc baseball sims. I found Baseball Mogul and enjoyed it and thought I would try the free Out of the Park 2007 to see how I might like it. It has great reviews. I am 55 years old and was an avid Strat-O-Matic table top player in my youth. Anyway, the thing is I can't get a game started in OOTP 2007 to see how I might like it. Maybe, I'm just being dense. But, all I really would like to do right now? Play a single fun simulation as the manager of the Atlanta Braves. Perhaps against the Phillies or the Cards. But, I can't figure out how to get there. Can someone tell me how I can simply start and play a game? Then after that I will research more of the bells and whistles.

Wish I could help you, but OOTP 2007 is six years old, I think. Not even sure if playing a single game between two teams is even possible (without setting up a league, entire schedule, etc.)

OOTP is a different animal than the strict replay games out there. OOTP really shines when creating your own fictional and/or historical universe.

Again, not sure about this, but I THINK OOTP11 is probably available for free - you may do best in getting a copy of that, since it'll be the closest to what's available now.

Also, the online manual for OOTP 13 (Out of the Park Baseball Manual) is worth a look, though it admittedly will probably look a lot different than the version you have.

Thanks I'll check out the manual. It might be that I will keep Baseball Mogul for the quick one game play and Out of the Park for the more detailed experience. I think both are better than the Strat-O-Matic pc game. Although, the old board game when I was young can't be beat. :-)

I still play Start face-to-face but it is OOTP that scratches my detail itch.
