*** has quite a few Domed stadium. One in particular has a unique design (yes.... a Domed stadium that is unique) -- Seibu Dome. Note that it has a see through window space that goes around the stadium. Might be an interesting project.

Question about SketchUp, silvam: How tough is it to do the rounded outfield walls? I remember having trouble making round walls for one stadium I tried to make in the time I had the full SketchUp trial. It felt a lot more natural for me to make the straight walls, but I was wondering if you've had any trouble with the rounded ones?

Rounded ones are basically just a bunch of smaller straight walls. It can be more time consuming when working with a bunch of smaller faces rather than one large face. I use the semi circle tool to make the rounded base for the walls, and then just draw the vertical faces

Maybe in a few years if OOTP 27 has animated backgrounds, we'll get a version of Mazda Zoom-Zoom with the bullet train passing by beyond left field.

Meji Jingu Stadium is also used for College baseball so the Japan college feeder league now has a stadium!

Silvam just killed two birds with one stone!

That’s cool. I started this with literally no knowledge of the league. Part of what I like about building stadiums is the research and residual information I learn about the teams and leagues.

Next up: ZOZO Marine stadium

You know what's sad? ZOZO Marine is built right on the edge of Tokyo Bay. The people sitting between the foul polls oughta be able to look out toward the outfield and have one of the most amazing views found in any baseball stadium in the world (as good as or better than AT&T). But then they went and closed in the entire outfield section, completely blocking any view of the outside area. I'm sure that wind must've been a concern (being right on the water like that), but you'd think they could've used some sort of transparent material--blocking the wind while still preserving the view.

And speaking of sad... Meiji Jingu. Built in the 1920s and one of the only stadiums still remaining that Babe Ruth played in, and after this season (or possibly next) they're tearing it down to make room for 2020 Olympics venues/parking.

I could very well be wrong, but Japan strikes me as a place where people don't really look back to the past for inspiration. I doubt you'd ever see a Camden Yards type stadium over there. They seem much more forward looking and value functionality over form. That's what I think based on my knowledge of the auto industry, anyway.
