Life in the Juniors... Ottawa 67's

Going to try and do a dynasty using the Ottawa 67's and see how many people I can move along to the NHL. I will be posting a game by game and week by week sort of thing, scores and highlights and see how things go.

Startiing the regular season, the 67's are looking at the roster like this...

Goaltending and Defense

In goal, we are average at best. Russian 18 year old Leonid Lazarev will be the starter. Considered good enough to start on most team, Leonid will be relied upon to carry this team as much as possible. Backing him up will be Liam Herbst, a 19 year old Canadian. Solid in the goal, doesn't have the stamia to be a starter though that could be worked on by the coaching staff this season.

On defense we are led by Jacob Middleton and he will see loads of ice time this season. Jacob is a very strong physical defenseman and will have to be good to help out this D core. 16 year old Noel Hoffenmayer will be counted on a bit to help supply some offense from the backend. William Brown, Nevin Guy, Ryan Orban, Hudson Wilson, Stephan Falkovski and Evan de Haan round out a sub par defensive unit that will have problems throughout the season. Hope fully we can make a move to get a solid 2 or 3 Dman for the long haul.

Forwards

The 67's are led by their captain and all star Travis Konecny. Travis Baron and MArcel Berube will round out the top line with the captain and could be a great line for the season and will have to be for us to compete.

The 2nd line of Todd, Addison and Salituro will be a solid compliment but will be far off the top unit. Salituro is a very good sniper and will help lead this line. The 3rd and 4th lines will not be as solid and will certainly have to outwork teams as the skill wont be there.

Game 1: Peterborough Petes

Game 1 was a thrilling 6-5 shootout win over the Petes.

GOALS
D. Salituro (1) (W. Brown)
S. Falkowski (1) (T. Konecny)
N. Hoefenmeyer (1) (J. Middleton, J. Addison)
T. Konecny (1) (J.Middleton, N. Guy) (SH)
T. Barron (1) (N. Guy, J. Middleton)

In the shootout, Baron and Konecny both scored on their shots and Addison missed his.

Ben Fanjoy unloaded on Nicholas Grima and drew a 5 minute major and a game misconduct in the first 5 minutes of the game. The Petes scored 2 on the major and took the lead after Salituro opened the scoring. BEfore the end of the 1st though, Falkowski and Hoefenmeyer both scored to tie the game. The Petes went up 5-3 in the 2nd without the 67's scoring but Konecny and Barron scored late in the game to tie it up for the heroics of the shootout for the win.
